Silent Hill 2 remake is, above all else, a testament to the enduring greatness of the original. Bloober team’s deft handling of the story, characters and themes brings these elements to new heights, but the newly expanded spaces add little value will negatively affecting pacing, and the combat framework seems an ill fit here. Regardless, Silent Hill 2 feels as contemporary as it did more than two decades ago, as its fearless desire to say something real remains a rare occurance in the AAA space.
