Elden Ring DLC And Invasions With Saint Riot | Yggdrasil Podcast 45
hello and welcome to the egral podcast I am your host riter today I have St Riot with me again thank you for coming back Saint thank you for having me again so uh let me start off and let everyone know not a spoiler-free podcast I think enough time has passed for that uh so we’re just going to be talking about the DLC and whatever else we happen to to touch on how did you like DLC I loved it I I was over the moon about it no no uh no no complaints no anything um I I wish that there had been more to um the Abyssal Woods I wish there had been more to that uh I I kind of you know I get what they were going for but it’s a really big area to go for like this you know vast expanse of uh you know nothingness um I I feel like you could have you could have stuck one more thing in there you know of Interest like a like a catacombs or a dungeon or something um there’s some areas that definitely felt like they they left them like wide open um which I I don’t mind so much it it you know like there’s like a million Fly Guy enemies and like a million um like dogs and stuff but like I I was okay with that uh for the purposes of like showing us this big region of you know oh everything has been you know decimated after America and all that so like I I was I was cool I I get the storytelling that we’re going for um and I feel like the payoffs were worth that for most Parts but there were some parts where I was kind of like man I wish there had been like one other thing here also those those fire giant dudes had way too much HP but I actually kind of like them uh I don’t know it’s like there every time I saw one I like o another one great it’s it’s so Legend of Zelda the especially the ones you have to like throw the bomb in your head yeah you get you get kind of into a Zone State it’s like all right I got to hit this leg I just just keep hitting the leg oh it’s gone down finally all right now let’s do it again I I I wish it like I wish they either like just one crit and that would and that was it like don’t don’t have them get back up or I’ve I’ve tried this maybe I’m doing it wrong I wish when you knocked them down you could throw a pot into their big head and just you know get rid of them that way that would be cool I said the same thing I think you kind of can but like you have to like do it quickly after you get the the repost on them after the critical so like right after there’s a there’s there’s a small window where the that basket turns back on and you can throw it in there I hadn’t even tried that that’s a good I’ll try that next time mhm that that way you can do it in one one sitting so what was your favorite area what was your favorite spot oh it’s I know I just complained about it but it’s really hard not to pick the Abyssal Woods um like I don’t know if you noticed this or not but um the spell um How of sh shaburi where like you yell and it raises the mad like it gives people around you frenzy like when the goats B if you’re standing too close to them it raises your frenzy and I was like this is the best video game of all time they had like the B of shabiri or whatever um and the mans itself was um I loved everything about it like the the the Aging untouchable like as you go there so so sick the frenzied interrogators who were like you know out and about so sick um The Headless corpses out front with the swords of damnation sticking out of their necks so sick everything was so sick about it it was um it was just fantastic last time we did this me and you like gushed about bloodborne so this is not going to come as a surprise to anybody but that was like my favorite thing um I yeah I really really love that but you know like uh like the the general Vibe of like Bell bellot I hope that’s how you that like the just the general Vibe I loved that um and uh the mans was small but it was oddly it was oddly filling for being so small I think it’s the my favorite of the smaller dungeons like not not the big Legacy dungeons but out of the smaller ones you know the castle Ms the the enus castle that’s that’s really TP tier they got so much better at that in between the base game and the DLC with um uh incus and the mans they’re just so much better than like car a Manor and castle mour and Castle Soul Castle Soul’s decent it’s fine but I just felt like the others were were like a A Step Above All the Rest um it didn’t feel like there was like uh a red M castle where you’re just like what am I doing you know what I mean there’s like five guys here and like two cookbooks and a like there’s way too much treasure here for the amount of resistance I’m facing I do wish it was a little bit bigger uh like I I was enjoying my time in the mans so much I was like damn if only this had been like a full Legacy D like a big like it’s not like they they’re not used to unrealistic proportions for oh it’s just a Manor people will say you know it doesn’t have to be that big it’s just a mansion it’s like okay well Cathedral ad deep is is biggest building you’ve ever seen no Cathedral no cathedral’s ever been built that looks anything like that it’s like aund 100 times the size of a normal Cathedral you the Cathedral of the deep is like to this day one of my favorite levels in a from soft game um and yeah I’m I’m right there with you I would love to see like something with like the backstory of the mans but with the size of the Cathedral of the deep that’s another one that it drives me crazy especially all the Dark Souls one and Dark Souls 2 callbacks that are in Elden ring it drives me crazy that they have not attempted another sin’s Fortress because like just do that please for the love of God that’s the best level in a video game it would they wouldn’t even be hard they could do it they could do a sense Fortress they they have the technology it would be so good is is is is what gets me because like their enemies like have better like AI or whatever the coding you know like they’re programmed better like they don’t have to just be dumb snakes that stand there yeah and then like immediately get toppled by their own traps like they could they could actually like Implement some fun they’ve gotten better at implementing like enemies as traps so like enemies plus traps like it just they could do such a great job do you remember would go back to that do you remember in Dark Souls I there was that one Invader NPC that acted like a real Invader like maldron yeah yeah yeah and he had several several different interactions like he would hide as a mimic thing and then like Ambush you from behind when you go to open a chest or he would like try and lure you into the enemies and run down there so that you uh you chase them and then he’d gank you with them like that was really impressive like if they’ve got that that down they should be able to provide a real good environment plus enemy interaction yeah like the God maldron is so good um the one where he appears and he’s got the friendly Phantom ring on and he’s like hey he does a gesture and then he like blocks you into a doorway with a wizard oh my god um the uh I’m just okay hang on what were we talking about I wanted we were just we were just finding things to gush about the DLC I I would love to see them bring back like the welld designed Invader enemy MH but like as like a p like a pursuer type like imagine even if it was like the mans a place that’s smaller if there was just a a psycho NPC in there with you who was like trapping you and like leading you through all these like dangerous corridors and like you feel like you finally got him cornered and nope it’s another trap he’s got you oh that would be so oh I would love that what’ you think of the uh the boss in the man midra I loved him I I feel like midra was um like he almost could have fulfilled the role of like a tutorial boss for the DLC like this is sort of this is where we expect you at you know um like you can deal with him however you want like you can block him you can Parry him you can dodge him you can great swword tank him whatever you want it’s all viable and it all works but you have to learn like how to pick your spots um and like that is like a recurring theme throughout the dlc’s bosses I think Rana does like a really good job of of sort of acting as like a a tutorial there as well where I I love her so much she might be like my new favorite from software boss um but uh she’s more like mechanically in depth and um midra was more just sort of like I’m going to do some stuff and this this is just the stuff that I do um and some of it’s safe to Counterattack and some of it’s safe you can just like run behind him for a lot of it and like as long as you’re behind him he can’t hit you um so like you don’t even have to dodge some of his stuff if you like recognize it fast enough and I love that um I love that they’re we were talking last time about like the Dodge roll mechanic and there’s so much stuff in this that makes it where okay you don’t have to just dodge roll like there’s a lot of there’s a lot of bosses that have attacks that just flat out miss you if you get right in their face or stand slightly to their side and stuff like that um and there’s a deflecting tiar that that really helps with that place though yeah I I actually I made a video where I was like I played one of my colossal sword um builds and went and got the deflecting tier and then I did invasions without rolls um oh just to see like okay how like how how good is this like can I can I not roll anymore um and and you can kind of hold your own with it but like I’m at that level range where like I’m fighting a lot of gankers who watch YouTube videos and that makes it like if if you if you go up against two people who know what they’re doing um uh or three people who are just absolutely chasing you down like it it’s too much to to overcome but in in in a lot of situations like especially if you weren’t like streaming like if you were just doing it for your own enjoyment and like you didn’t have like to worry about like stream snipers or anything like that you could you know you could actually get away with some kind of like I was like over encumbered I had like my jar cannon in my off hand and like the Colossal sword in in my main hand and like um it was actually yeah like the deflecting tier in PvP uh in the game itself like it’s just absolute like it’s so so good I’m so glad that they I don’t think I can play without it anymore I I don’t think I can do anything without it anymore like I don’t want to play most builds if I can’t use my deflecting teer it’s so like it’s so good and everybody’s complain is that like it doesn’t last long enough and I totally I totally feel that like I’m just glad we got it like it lasts like there’s enough Grace in the in the game that like you could go through an entire dungeon and always have it active because like a legacy dungeon like because there’s always the next Grace you’re going to get to you sit down now you’ve got it back for the next you know four minutes or whatever it is um and it’ll last the whole boss fight like very there’s not there’s not there’s not a situation where where a boss is going to last five whole minutes um and you don’t die yeah that’s a thing that I talk about like when I’m talking about like the Wonders physic in Invasions is 3 minutes is longer than you think it is yes like there’s no Invasion where like okay this is the fight like you might have like the part where you’re like shooting at each other from long range or whatever but like when the fight starts like there’s no fight that lasts 3 minutes in Elden ring um you know 99% of the time 3 minutes is uh you know a minute and a half more than necessary so um you on the on on the topic I’m so like look I know they just gave us something new and I’m not one to complain or like this this kind of drove me crazy they gave us the ability to alter armor in the game and everybody immediately laed and was like I want to alter it more and it’s like they should have never given us that really all it did was like I I get it people are like I want to change the color of the armor and like is that something you should be able to do yes especially after armored Core yes but like they just gave it to us and we’re already complaining about it okay I’m sorry I hate to be that guy they just gave us the deflection tier I’m not complaining I swear to God but but what about a physic where if you shoot someone with a crossbow you can Parry them you just want to play bloodb you just want to play bloodb but imagine if I could play sakiro and blood both of those yes with a guy who’s using a colossal sword oh my god oh what what if it’s that one of those swords that have like a ranged hit and the ranged hit you you can two-hand it you can deflect while you’re two-handing and then you do a ranged hit and then that counts as a pair yeah oh god oh I would love it do you think the deflecting tier means anything like for for their future like do you think uh that’s indicative of them working on something that might use deflections yeah I if you had asked me that and and i’ like my only if you had asked me that and I was just some guy who just played these games you know but like never really like I mean it’s let’s like it’s basically my career um I would probably be like oh they probably just wanted a cool throwback to sakiro but um there’s been all these like there’s been these interviews where Miyazaki is like oh we can I feel like we can do even better with sakiro and bloodborne’s like he’s been saying that like like I feel like we could refine sakiro and bloodborne’s combat further I think is like that’s not the direct quote but it’s roundabout MH and then we get the T yeah so yeah yes I definitely feel like they’re working on something in that uh in that vein yeah it’s kind of funny ever since we had our podcast uh ever since you planted the seed of like a uh a fat rolling getting rid of the fat roll and then having some kind of shoulder shoulder tackle I’ve been thinking you you know I’ve just been talking about it non-stop on all of my streams and I’ve been I’m being basically like like I want strength Securo I just want strength sakiro I want Ziro but balanced around not Dex and the katana but balanced around the character being a strength character somehow and all of the all of the focus being on that in the same way that the focus was on dodging and and pairing and deflecting in pyo but for the strength but for strength I I was I called that game that imaginary game that I also have I call it sir kir row and instead of instead of a grappling hook you have like a battering ram mechanical prosthetic hand and you have to like use it to bust down walls instead of like jump over walls you’re like busting down walls but like maybe it can also turn into like a cannon and like a [ __ ] Looney Tunes Hammer but yeah same I want like I want that that game also the the strength version of sakiro I if it like oh my god oh I I hate even like saying this out loud but like if you could take like you know how bloodborne didn’t have like a billion weapons it had like 20 but all of them were like you know well thought out imagine like we can go even lower oo give me like eight weapons to choose from but like eight weapons that drastically like Monster Hunter style changed the way to play game yeah okay but like okay but it’s sakiro bloodborne like you’re just putting everything in the pot now yeah like like limit I I understand why a game like sakiro doesn’t have like a ton of build quote unquote build variety right I get it um but I feel like there’s like a a nice Middle Ground there where like you could like I I don’t need all this I don’t need 15 long SWS that all like 13 of them all behave behave the same way they just shoot a different laser I don’t need that mhm like if if you just give me eight weapons and each one of them is like a a drastically different experience you know um I’m good to go you know like a a Stak driver and a a Ludwig’s holy blade and a and you got to throw in a katana there’s got to be one but you know yeah give me that holy God let me play that for the rest of my life I’m to I’m I’m with you I am totally with you you know okay H how do you you know what let’s not talk about the future because we’re we’re going to get back into bloodborne copium we we we spent the entirety of the last podcast just sharing the same you know tank of copium passing the mask back and forth um okay but since we’re talking about weapons what did you think of the weapons in the DLC um I this has been like the worst two weeks of my life uh in a long time so I have not had as much a chance as I would like to to like go in depth with everything um I have got to use like the light great sword and I love it uh I feel like that’s what I I feel like if if Elden ring had come out like a year later that’s what straight swords would have been mhm um they’re they’re so like there’s I think they should be a staple they should not get rid of it it like every weapon deserves what they did to the light great sword where it’s like it’s the it’s so fluid everything flows in and out of everything else um the recovery frames like there’s a reason to play with them mhm because like if you if you if you just Mash that’s you know you get that’s fine you just cycle through the animations but if you chill while you’re in your recovery frames you can sort of like delay some stuff in interesting ways that works for both PVE and PVP um someone told me that a lot of the new weapons are coded for like the Poise damage that would have been done for weapons on 1.07 a patch which makes sense because I believe it was confirmed somewhere maybe not hard confirmed I think it was Lance McDonald that said it which is basically like a confirmation yeah um one point okay so uh the weapons were going to be their own separate like DLC where they would just add these weapons into the game and then the second DLC was going to be the new area and then they decided Well let’s just push it all back and put it together and so if the I if those weapons have just been sitting there since 1.07 it makes sense like the light Greatsword does like no Poise damage at all right which is like you I at first I was like I don’t know maybe it’s not supposed to because it hits twice on so much stuff MH like its heavy attack is as fast as its light attack almost and like it hits twice on every heavy attack but the more I play with it the more I’m like okay no it definitely should do more than because it just can’t challenge anything um which is like that’s problematic like you don’t want it to like it’s so so good if you play it like passive and you just punish mistakes but you don’t want your players especially with a weapon that fun to swing you don’t want them just standing there like you know not doing anything with it um okay sorry light great sword absolutely love it the backhand blades I haven’t played with yet but like they are an absolute nightmare um I don’t know if you’ve noticed the like they can do a running attack and not stop running that’s absurd yeah uh every Ash of War they have is busted yes so hard to yeah the blind strike thing that’s so difficult to deal with BL yeah it’s ABS there are times when like my Neo brain unlocks and I see I can just walk behind it and backstab whoever does it but I I can’t articulate to myself what what is happening yet I just does that make like I can just see it and I get it but like sometimes you just do it but you’re like oh that’s surprising yeah it’s like Ultra Instinct like the music starts playing okay um all the throw I’m I’m so mad I’m so mad at Dark Souls 2 players I’m not mad at Dark Souls 2 but I’m so mad at Dark Souls 2 players MH and this is I like I blame everyone who enjoys Dark Souls 2 for oh there needs to be more int faith weapons there needs to be more int faith weapons and also power stance was so cool there needs to be more power stance I was when I saw rana’s weapon like I was like this is the perfect weapon this is the I thought it was like the caran straight sword with moonveil lasers yeah and and and I was like and then they attached it to some other sword that has a faith requirement that shoots fire and I was like I was so mad I was trying to find some way to like okay what if I what if I don’t match the faith requirements can I still do no you can’t you can’t shoot the lasers if you don’t have the faith requirements I was like so mad at and then and this is why I’m mad before the Dark Souls 2 people I’ve I’ve I’ve given them enough time to start typing their comment go ahead comment like And subscribe um the reason I’m mad at them is because after I go on stream dreams and I see people saying oh in faith stuff didn’t get enough in this DLC it’s like you won’t be satisfied until they just give you that stupid weapon infusion back and then that’ll be the only infusion anyone plays with and then you’ll all gripe about build [Laughter] variety I know this game they’re not even using rana’s sword the the I know they just ruined it for everyone else exactly it could have been perfect for me like if that had just been two separate swords I would have had every sword I needed for like 50% of all my builds that use straight swords and straight sword adjacent swords oh you don’t even know you don’t even know I also was desperate to make it work because I I think the light gr sword is probably my favorite weapon class but I like carrying stuff I like I like carrying swords and I like them specifically when they have the glint Stone in it you know uh I tried to convince myself that Mady was a caran sword oh you find it an anus oh it’s you know you know it’s it’s basically a caran sword look carens are elegant that’s that’s why it moves that way but no it’s not really a caran sword doesn’t have a glint Stone in it and so Rana sword is just it’s perfect y but no no it’s attached to this other thing it’s it’s it’s very difficult to make it work and it’s just weaker than than any alternative that I could be using yeah don’t like it I will I will say though that um like if you go sword and shield with rana’s or rala Rana rala which one what which one are we talking about Rana Rana okay if you go sword and shield it puts the fire sword on your back yes which is like that was something that they showed off in Dark Souls 3 leaked before the game was even announced the game there was like images of the game leaked online and that was one of the things that we saw was like a guy with a sword and a shield and he had a bastard sword on his back and everybody was like this is so hype we can finally have cool no and it never happened until now we just now got it but I I I have to remind everybody um all the time when I’m streaming I have to remind people like people are like oh we saw this a million years ago it’s still not been put in any of the games it’s not been implemented the skeletons in Demon Souls have the oniri ubadachi move set and like we as the players didn’t get access to that until they like they even had the the weapon art the jump knee double slash thing we didn’t get that Until Dark Souls 3 so like maybe one day you know maybe next game you’re right that is the jum attack I died to it a lot farming that blad Stone yep yep yep I think at one point like Demon Souls was the first one that I that I played I I started like trading people for bladestone because it’s like do you have it like I just I’d invade people and I’d see that use a canana it’s like hey you got PL St I really need it that’s you think you’re getting hate mail from the guy you just fought and there was like hey you got any blad Stone please I’m desperate never even seen one you know was messed up about the Remake I I don’t know how true this is but somebody told me this and I instantly believed it because it was funny uh since they upped the drop rate on pure blad Stone it made it where the bladestone chunks were now as hard to form as the pure blad Stone used to be because everything that dropped the chunks now had a higher like drop rate of blad Stone I see the pure bladestone I thought that was I I don’t know if that’s accurate or not but I like to believe it is because it’s funny I’ll take any anything that makes uh criticism for the Remake I I didn’t like it I I saw that I your video I um I I think it’s just it’s too risky to try and remake one of those games without like direct input from the studio itself like I I have no ill will or whatever towards blueo MH uh I I I watched some interviews with like the guy that was in charge of that project and he seemed to genuinely love Demon Souls um but the entirety of like the community is based around this idea of like everyone’s interpretation and how everyone’s interpretation of of stuff is different and so to try and like pin down like a concrete form War for this thing that everyone experienced and saw differently like it’s just you’re just never in a million years ever like there was the I try not to nitpick or whatever but like when the flame lurker thing came out and everybody was throwing a fit about how flame lurker looked different there was one like detail that always stuck out to me was that like the flame lurker looks like he’s wearing a crown but it’s like it’s a human skull where his like he has grown too big for his own bones and he’s he’s like coming out of his skull and it looks like a crown because of like the way his skull has opened up and it’s so grotesque and it’s such like cool visual storytelling and it’s something that they just like oh he’s got like Bones on his head you know like you kind of like Miss the you know and I get how you could it’s such a small little detail but it’s that small little detail that somebody could make a lore video about that you know uh literally 1 million people watch and and and are like oh that’s so cool and now you’ve missed it in your remake and so like you know like people like I I I I don’t want to nitpick but like I understand why people do and I just it’s so like it’s that’s a cursed project to have to try and take on to try and like remake Demon Souls God forbid you imagine somebody trying to remake bloodborne yeah how would you feel about them like they’ve there’s been rumors swirling around that they would be the ones to remake bloodborne if there was going to be a bloodborne remake in all honesty um I I know people memd about uh the qck remaster of Dark Souls 1 but like just do that like the the thing that people don’t understand about the qck Dark Souls 1 remaster is like that game fundamentally does not work on Playstation or Xbox it’s so hard like the net code was so bad that that game just fundamentally doesn’t work and like go now I challenge you go to cck’s Wikipedia page and look at the games that they have remastered they’re all multiplayer games and they all focus on like improving the multiplayer if you play Dark Souls 1 on PC then I told toally understand how you’re like this is a non-issue for me we have mods that fix this cool I get it and they also should not have Dlisted prepared a Die Edition totally until that thing was discovered the the the that was weird that was weird that was a weird thing like we heard about that one time and then it disappeared it’s I almost feel like it’s like not true and it was like a a panic uh like I talked about it I I reported it and seemed legit but uh we never heard anything about that again and so it’s just like go ahead they they I don’t know if you remember this they they took all the games offline for a minute yeah I I know um it it was a legitimate thing it was a real thing um but you were right to feel uh you know like something was fishy there because it absolutely was the the exploit was discovered by people um who were like to their credit were trying to get a hold of someone to be like hey this exploit exists and apparently I don’t know how true any of this is but apparently they tried to get you know in touch with someone at band dynamico or from to be like hey this exploit exists and no one answered them and so then they staged uh an example of it and they passed it off as real um just so someone would finally I I I I I cannot you know but that’s like I can’t verify how factual any of this is but that’s what happened as far as we know you know and it must have had some legitimacy otherwise they just say that’s not real uh instead of like taking all the games down all right the the fact the fact that some of the games couldn’t come back online for that reason um I forget which ones was it I think Dark Souls prepared a Die edition and maybe Dark Souls 2’s like the OG servers yes that sounds right yeah like so there was obviously something to it but yeah the way that it was presented to everyone um definitely made it seem like uh you know like wait that was all like that was literally like a presentation basically right for show to get people to pay attention to uh this this thing I don’t know how hard they tried I I have there have been exploits and bugs that I have and and not even me as like St Riot a guy who does these videos but like just a guy I like emailed Bandai and I’m like hey there’s a thing that happens if you do this this and this and it makes this happen and it’s obviously unintended and they have fixed it um a buddy of mine who was like like uh like a mathematician in real life um and a bloodborne he calls himself a challenged Runner uh um he made a like he made a graph of armor Poise values and defense break points and basically it was an it was an entire graph that was just to show from software how bad the tree Sentinel armor was um at doing anything like how pointless it was uh he sent them the graph and that like the tree Sentinel armor is like the tryhard armor now because of uh the changes they made to all of the armors after like patch 1.08 or something you know 7 or six somewhere around there that’s actually really nice that they’re that you know we know that they’re listening and you you have material evidence of them changing things based on information that you know they have yeah like it they’re not like if if you email Bandai like they’ll email you back like they’re like oh okay they’re like can you explain this more can you like if you submit a bug report if as long as you don’t sound like an idiot I guess like they’ll get back in touch with you and like hey you know if they have other the questions like um you know can you explain the steps between two and three that make four happen things like that um like they it it used to be I you remember this I’m sure like do you remember one of my dogs is growling at me for some reason uh stop growling at me psycho sorry um do you remember Dark Souls 3 band damco finally hired a guy to be like a community manager kind of uh I can’t remember his name but he would hang out on Reddit and he would like you could like just talk to him um when this happened everybody was like holy crap like this is we actually can like talk to this person he added um he added ornstein’s plume to his helmet in Dark Souls 3 that was uh that was one of the major things that that happened um I can’t remember that guy’s name but man yeah anyway after that point he’s gone but like Bandy Namco after that like it has just become so much easier to actually like communicate with a person about these games and get someone to like pay attention to you which is nice because there’s a lot of stuff that like Community feedback like in my opinion they should ignore and their right to ignore it yeah uh but there’s some stuff that’s like I shouldn’t be able to deathlight people with carrying retaliation right I’m that’s a problem that you have um here’s why it’s happening would you please fix this thank you okay let me uh try and drag us back to the the DLC um bosses which which which one was your favorite which boss did you like the most it’s Rana rala yeah Rana Rana I love I love her so much when I um my my buddy stochastic the the challenge Runner guy um I used to invade him in bloodborne and he would be a new game plus s uh in Bergen worth uh and he would summon Damen of mensis new game plus seven Damen of menus is a nightmare um and there’s a bug in bloodborne where in multiplayer the old Hunters their projectiles fire twice so when he does black sky eye it shoots two instead of one and it’s like new game plus seven Arcane damage against like a level 43 Invader so like he’s you’re just getting one tapped by Daman of min’s black sky eye um and he that was like kind of his deal was like he was like you know he’s this guy who does these insane challenge runs and then basically just you know like he’ll summon strangers into a new game plus seven world at level 30 and just let them get destroyed by uh you know base game starting enemies that but you know their new game plus seven and the people that he’s summoning don’t know that right just doing goofy stuff um he’s he got me into like trying challenge runs and bosses That I Used To Hate I loved now and bosses that I used to love I was like you kind of peak behind the curtain and you’re like oh this is kind of garbage all right lady Maria is kind of garbage um the way her Fire Works on her weapon like that little plume of fire that comes off it’s essentially just there to to do some extra damage to limit the amount of rally that you have but if you’re below level 20 you haven’t you you haven’t leveled up any of your flat defense yet and so it will just kill you and it’s just such a garbage it’s just such a cheap way to to to hurt the player it’s obvious it’s designed for people who are Level over level 100 obviously yeah but like you kind of peek behind the curtain a little bit and you’re like oh and you kind of like it it kind of like okay Rana is that without all the garbage she’s perfect she’s beautiful in every way everything and she’s so good I I I made a video right when Elden ring came out and it was like enemies do read your inputs but what you think is input reading is is like a positional based decisionmaking pathway this dog I’m sorry hang on one second I I’m gonna put her downstairs ah okay now I’m back it’s working do you want to Circle back around to that question or should I just jump back in no you can just go ahead and jump back in what what was it uh we’re talking about Rana love her I love Rana I I made a video like when Elden ring first came out like I just was using The Crucible night in the ever jail people were like oh it’s input reading and it’s like yeah kind of but it’s it’s just making decisions based on where you’re standing and you can watch that play out like in real time it has like a stomp attack that it follows up with a slash and then if you’re too far away it doesn’t do anything else but if you’re close he does like a follow-up slash it’s like they they just have decision making and she is that perfected where where where you’re standing what you’re doing all determines and like her the recovery between her swings is like all the time it takes for her to make the decision on which attack is going to work best right now yeah and like everything she does is fluid and perfect and counterable and so you’re basically saying all the complaints people have are they’re just wrong they’re wrong about Rano I I have not I I I’ve seen a million people complain about Ron but I have not seen many people complain about her if they are complaining about her well I think I think she she’s under the generalized complaints where you know these the combo strings are are too long she takes forever to stop her her attacks yes yeah oh yeah that’s like people I I I it’s so like they they see an enemy have like a 5sec windup and they’re like their wind ups are so slow hit them yes thank you thank you hit them just hit them yeah that’s what you know that’s the opening that’s your opening right there yeah like it’s not meant to be like everybody has like this Dark Souls one brain they yeah they want it to be complet they want the boss to be completely at neutral they want the boss to be completely not moving and that’s like oh that’s indicative that I can go and attack them but it’s actually not not anymore like that’s not indicative that you can that because they might be able to hit you from neutral uh a lot of the times and okay I I agree with you about the input reading thing but it’s it’s like well what are they they don’t have eyes what are they supposed to do uh so so it’s it’s not you’re right it’s not input reading they’re making decisions based on on what you’re doing based on where you’re standing based on on what you’re whether you’re attacking or not you know based on a lot of things they don’t have eyes they have to they have to they have to make decisions as to what they’re going to do based on what they they you know based on what you’re doing without actual yeah that was the thing that drove me crazy was like the one instance where they will input read is when you use an item and the item that you’re probably using is a flask so they’re going to punish that um but if you will if you will learn the boss what’s beautiful about these bosses is you never have to drink a flask in neutral there’s always a time to drink a flask right it’s just part of part of the fight is finding it you have to forgo the opening that you would have used to attack and use that opening for a flask don’t don’t do it from neutral if I’m if I’m playing a PVP and I and I think they’re about to go for a flask I charge at them you know I try and punish the flask yeah yes like yeah that’s like in Dark Souls 3 and in Elden ring like and bloodborne like PVP like hell in Dark Souls 1 like that’s where your real damage happens is like the flask punish the heel punish um the the with Elden ring I will say it’s so fast especially against redon like you have to make the role and be chugging out of the role like you have no extra time every like everything is like so like I know people are really mad at redon yeah let me ask you let me ask you what what do you think about redon like I guess it’s like traditional at this point what what is your redon thoughts he’s so hard but he he should be he deserves to be and he’s good the the there are aspects of that fight that I still have not completely wrapped my head around but um the there’s he his phase two is entirely just psychological warfare which makes sense because that’s micha’s whole thing and so the fact that like like he all those teleports that he does they don’t do any real damage they just scare you they’re just there to scare you and and it works I get terrified yeah it’s terrifying but also like every mistake that you make that okay so like let’s say you dodge a hit in phase two and you dodge the hit but then you get hit by the the Aftershock of like the holy explosion mhm if you if you learn how to roll that in phase two so that you don’t get hit by it mhm and then you and then you go back and you try phase one again you will learn that Phase 2 just taught you a better way to dodge phase one m and so as you get better at phase two you’re getting better at Phase One there’s very little in phase two that isn’t accounted for in Phase One all the openings are the same all the big openings are the same the meteor psycho Crusher dive he does the Lion’s claw um he has a new opening now with the grab attack the Micha mind control attack is a new opening yep that you can punish or heal during um his Zen getu uh Naruto teleport that he does like that’s easily avoidable and gives you a chance to heal um but any if if if he goes for an attack you dodge it and then the explosion gets you at the end it’s basically saying like hey stand here ddg to a different place if you had been standing over here you could have punished that and not gotten hit and so like if you are willing to learn from phase two it makes phase one easier and when you get through phase one easier and and it doesn’t you know like the only thing that’s absolute [ __ ] about redon is like any attack that starts with his left hand especially that that that slice slice scissor chop that is and I saw Scott jun’s video and I heard peeve talk about like that all used to be like on the The Press copy of the game that was all a true combo so like if you got hit by it and it’s so easy to get hit by it it all comboed together and like in phe two it was just a one shot even if you had 60 Vigor uh yeah I heard I heard from a lot of different people that that was just like it’s was ridiculous there’s like how do they expect people to beat this yeah yeah that that move it’s still ridiculous but it’s not it’s not that bad it what what got me is like I just parried the [ __ ] out of him how I beat him that’s what I did yeah and it felt good didn’t it it did I loved it I was like okay I see what we’re doing hell yeah let’s go I’ll we’ll sakiro this dude and and I had a great time with it uh but I um I I want to try him with the deflect tier I have I still haven’t got to try him with the deflect here yet he’s fun he’s fun with it I I gosh man and this is another thing that I think a lot of people are complaining about that that they don’t understand there has been some misinformation that the DLC does not does not is is unaffected by New Game Plus have you seen people say this no no I it’s all over the internet people are they are convinced that your level doesn’t matter and that your huh New Game Plus cycle doesn’t matter and they think that the scat tree blessings are like the only thing that matters and it’s it’s the more casual audience but like I see it a lot and I’m like who told you people this and like why would you believe it but I I think I think I saw one particular complaints I saw one particular review uh by Arlo And he’s he’s a Nintendo guy he doesn’t really you know he played Elden ring and he got to new game plus 7 so he likes Elden ring but he’s not uh he’s self- admittedly not not great at it and so he goes into the DLC with his new game plus seven character and uh much of his review was like this is too much like I like I like Elden ring I like all that stuff but this is this is so much um and he was doing it during the review period so he was he was with the much harder version of the game than what we got on release uh and I’m just like why did you go in a new game plus 7 if you if you self- admittedly you know you’re putting yourself where nowhere to you got nowhere to go you know yeah when when you play Elden ring or any of these Souls games you have an Avenue to make the game easier on yourself with upgrades and levels and more HP and more damage what whatever it is um but at new game plus 7 that matters a lot less you know that it than it does in in new game yeah so like you’ve just you’ve just taken that Avenue away from yourself and like okay now now let’s make let’s make the game as hard as it possibly can this is a thing that I I like I I did sakiro new game plus seven plus eight I think I got it to like plus 14 it doesn’t matter at a certain point but like with Elden ring and Dark Souls it’s like I just make a new character I just start a new build to like okay what what would happen if I did it this way um I did a I did a long sword now let’s do a great sword okay now let’s do the Colossal sword um go so I almost never go A New Game Plus on an ed ring it it depends on how like so for me I’m making builds that I’m going to do PvP with and so like okay you know like level 80 with like plus uh 16 weapons like that’s a good range yes um all right I can get that just I I can I can get that before I get to maloth which is nice because it allows me to not Ash the capital so that’s nice mhm um if I’m going to go to 125 or 138 or 139 whatever it is um I’ll just beat the game if I’m going to go to level 200 I need to go to New Game Plus maybe new game plus two um but that’s typically like as far as I go on any playthrough so seeing people do like First playr Shadow of the earth tree new game plus 7 what is wrong with you why like my first playthrough of the old Hunters was in like new game plus three um and I was like this is a nightmare this is like legitimately a nightmare I I stopped leveling up because I was like well if you keep leveling up you kind of like there’s no like you’re you’re going into new game plus it’s supposed to be harder New Game Plus is always a Victory lap new game plus 2 is where like stuff like okay gascoin is going to put up a fight again in New Game Plus 2 um so like fighting you know lwig and Maria and orphan and and Lawrence in new game plus two for the first time at like at like level one20 or whatever I was I was like God why did I do this and so from that point on I was like yeah like if my first playthrough of the DLC is not going to be in new game plus three or anything crazy it might be New Game Plus or maybe even new game plus two but like if it’s new game plus two I’m going to be level 200 so like you know that’s way higher level than I would typically take take a build this is a good opportunity actually do you what do you think is the best Invasion level for the DLC uh you like honest to God um it when people would ask me like in Dark Souls 3 they’re like hey what level like if I wanted to to in like start in in what level should I be and I would be like try like you know be level 60 and have back when Dark Souls 3 first came out level 60’s like normal upgrade was like plus eight because plus eight weapons went all the way down to plus five and so you could be 60 plus eight and give yourself like this just just this sliver of an advantage over other level 60 and then like the fourth or fifth patch they made it where that was they were like Okay Plus 8 only goes down to plus 6 now so it became 60 plus 6 or 60 plus 7 I would tell people like yeah go start there with Elden ring and in the DLC as well just go to metal level go to meta level because like 125 if you want to if you want your build to like have honorable du in the arena then you should stick at 125 if you don’t give a [ __ ] about that that then go to 138 or 139 whatever it is but the reason being is that if you’re level if you try and learn invasions at level 60 you’re going to invade some guy who has summoned his level 400 buddy and and and the way that downscaling works between level 60 and like level 80 it’s functionally worthless I I would I would say I would say like 50 to 80 it’s functionally worthless it downscaling does nothing to help you as the Invader in in that instance like so what’s going to happen is is you’re going to have a plus 12 weapon at level 60 and you’re going to hit this guy who’s level like 700 and it’s not going to do any damage to him and he’s going to bleed you out in one hit or he’s gonna frostbite you in one hit or frenzy you in one hit and you can’t do any damage to him but if you’re level 139 or 125 or whatever 150 anything in between there even if he’s level 400 you’re at least still hitting him with a fully maxed out weapon and that will do damage you know like people get like so caught up on like the stats that I don’t think they understand that like for a long long period of time the majority of your damage is coming from your weapon upgrade that matters more than anything else for a for the for a larger amount of time like up until you hit like plus 18 it doesn’t really matter where your stats are you could just have base stats to wield something and if you’ve got it leveled up right it’s going to do damage so you know once you get to a point where now you have levels to spare okay cool put them where they go but um if you hit anybody with a plus 25 weapon it’s going to do damage it’s going to hurt them and so like if you’re trying to learn invasions it’s nice that you can do damage to those people who are like overleveled as opposed to feeling like you’re just swinging a wet noodle at the overleveled password summoned Phantoms um and I think that that level range for the DLC is still like kind of the go-to I think most people are probably going to be somewhere between 125 and 200 and so if you aim for like 139 or like 16 eight or whatever where that way you’re going you know you’re invading down to 150 but up to 200 yeah somewhere between there 139 and 160 I think like you’re going to get the majority I I’ll tell you I ran one of my level 80 builds through the DLC to get all the new Madness stuff stuff and I tried to invade and there is literally no one in the DLC at level 80 at all right um and there probably won’t be for a while uh yeah even if there is even if there is I don’t think that like those are the type you want to invade cuz like ideally you want to invade people that are going in as a group to and they’re just they’re just trying to get through the level maybe it’s the first time going through it or or they’re helping their buddy with it you you want to get people that are trying to go through the level and like my my ration is like 166 is what I thought was ideal because it it first of all there’s there’s plenty of people still maybe it’s a consequence of there being a lot of people there but right now there’s a lot of people to invade at 166 and my reasoning was I don’t necessarily want the meta level people at 125 because if they’re meta level they’re there for a reason they’re dualists they uh they want to be able to go through the through the DLC and stay at the meta level so they can du I don’t like pairing with dualists I don’t like Tess tonging people that that uh that are sitting there and just waiting for you or ambushing you or or even if they’re being you know Fair they’re just they just want to be able to duel and not be in the arena and I just I’m like just go to the arena love of God go to the arena leave me alone I’m trying to go ahead I I no yeah 100% I’m with you like the Conor’s tongue is like the worst implemented everything like it it does nothing for anyone who wants it to do what like Invaders want it to be this thing where it’s like okay you turned it on you can’t turn it off like even if you kill me I’m coming right back and if I manage to kill one of your Phantoms I’m going to get a second Invader to come in here and help me I I would love that I miss the Dark Souls 3i dried finger where it was like like I would fight a group from the start of the Cathedral of the deep to the end of the Cathedral of the I miss that so much Jesus and like and and when you get a good and like you just don’t have that with Elden ring which is a shame and and I know that there are I know that there are hosts who wish it worked that way because they play it that way mhm but the vast majority of people play it as like toner’s tongue on here comes an Invader toner’s tongue off me and my buddy are going to gank you now yeah and like that’s so annoying and then alternatively I know that there are people who miss getting invaded solo at as they honestly and earnestly explored an area yes they can’t have that either that’s because the ters that’s me I want that give it back to me the toner the toner’s tongue isn’t doing it for you because you’re like with the dried finger it was like I might get invaded with the tor’s tongue it’s like I am being invaded as soon as I use this yes like there’s not there’s no probability that I might get invaded at the worst possible time what’s going to happen is I’m going to use this item and immediately get invaded yeah and so like and then even if I kill the guy I’m going to get invaded right afterwards that’s that’s another thing that I liked about the normal invasions it was a surprise you know you didn’t know when it was going to happen like you just wandered out into the world you were you were honestly going through the levels and then oh you’re invaded and then you kill the guy and then you go through the cool down and then you know when it happens again it’s a surprise it’s not like a constant stream of phantoms that at that point you’re not even engaging with the level you’re just you’re just challenge rushing to uh challenge fighting you’re to the to the boss yeah the the idea that I like as someone who like I I had my my little tryhard phase during Dark Souls 3 and it was like by the end of Dark Souls 3 I had I was just like okay what’s the coolest thing I can do like I I don’t I want to win but if I don’t win doing the coolest thing then it just kind of feels like me whatever right so for a person like me when I invade a solo host who is like I have run into like out of of all the thousands of invasions I’ve probably had 10 solo hosts who were like actively trying to explore an area with a toner’s tongue on yeah and every time it’s just like I show up they see me and they’re like oh [ __ ] and they cease to they cease to try and progress to the level they completely stop the majority of the time they just die instantly right through no fault of mine yeah right and so it’s just like okay so I’m going to give you the Invader perspective on this and this is just for people who you know think like me and but there’s a bunch of us out there I promise um we hit the finger we sit there for a second invading Another World cool loading screen all right spawn in oh I see the host host has died loading screen mhm and now I’m back in it’s like so I a thing that I see people is they’re like I wish run arcs worked like Embers and I’m like I don’t I don’t miss that at all like I after Elden ring came out I went back and I tried to invade and Dark Souls remastered for like I I don’t even remember what I was doing but I was just like I’m going to do this for a weekend or something I guess I don’t know and uh oh I wanted footage for video I invaded 10 times right in front of an Orlando at like an Orlando level so I was like level 40 50 something like that and nine of my 10 invasions no I’m sorry eight of my 10 invasions ended in disconnects the moment I got into the world one ended in a disconnect the moment I I showed up and the and I actually saw the host they disconnected and then one was an actual Invasion and I was like oh right disconnects I had forgot about this like Elden ring is like you’ll disconnect on an Invader because you don’t give a [ __ ] about them like there’s some guy who opposes you and so you will you will step outside the rules of the game and turn the game off you know what I’m saying like you’ll just knock the chess board over and be like nope not doing that you don’t care because like they’re opposed to you but you’re less likely to do that if you have your buddy with you right and like that’s how they fixed disconnects everybody always complained like oh they should do something to fix disconnects and then they fixed it by being like okay uh don’t get invaded unless you’re with somebody and for a person like me it’s like this is perfect this is the perfect system you know okay yeah I I got to say this is something that I’ve been thinking about in the last month I’ve changed my mind having molded over I have always been the guy it’s like oh bring back solo host invasions I I miss solo host invasions but I wasn’t thinking about it right because I was thinking about it from the host perspective as me as the host it’s like I want to engage with the invasion system while I solo go through the game because I’m not going to use a co-op partner and I’m definitely not going to use a co-op partner the first time I I I do it I I probably won’t use it most of the times that I do it I just don’t like it and so I that completely cuts off invasions for me and that’s not good but then I started thinking about it wait a minute do I want to invade solo host and the answer that I came to is no no because even in the most optimal situation where it’s a good host he’s going through the level he’s honestly engaging with the level and is good enough to deal with the enemies and me uh coming at him um even in that situation I’d rather just fight a group you know I I don’t want to do this anymore like uh first of all I have a lot of experience invading like I’m not I’m not the best but I’m experienced so I’m at least as good as experience can get you um and so the guy has to be better than me and the enemies and whatever [ __ ] that I’ve brought with me into you know whatever build that I’ve brought with me to deal to deal with because I’m prepared you know I’m in The Invader uh and he and he’s caught by surprise and it’s not reasonable to expect a solo host to be that good you know even if he could take me in a duel can he take me and three NPCs NPC things in duel no I don’t think I don’t think he can so I just I it’s just not as interesting it’s much more my speed it’s much more interesting when he’s got two or three guys with him and they’re going through the level and I use the level to my advantage and then because they have more people they have the courage to push forward when they’re by themselves they they will tend to be like well now I can’t I can’t push forward there’s too I can’t deal with him and the enemies but if it’s but yeah go ahead well you as The Invader you are rewarded also for your knowledge of the level mhm and so like you’re like ah like you you mentioned earlier you know you like it when maybe they’re going through for the first time like there’s that one guy that’s maybe off in the corner um that banished knight from hell in Castle Soul like so many people don’t even know that he exists but I do and so like if you’re chasing me with your four buddies and you’re like ah we got your ass now and and I can even just get you kind of close to him he’ll probably teleport over here you know um and so like I’m rewarded for knowing that and it that that’s like that’s like that feedback loop that you want in a game where like I’m rewarded for understanding mechanics and hit stun and latency and yada yada but also like just for knowing there’s a guy over here who’s kind of a badass and those moments where the the banish Knight shows up and just wipes everybody out and like you know they were they were whipping your ass up until that moment but then the banish Knight shows up and you’re like ah they didn’t know about that like that everything about that feels good like as opposed to like all right I show up and there’s a guy and it’s a solo host and he’s just standing there with like uh a great sword in a brought Rapier in his off hand and he’s just you know waiting or alternatively you the solo host who’s like man let’s assume you had that where you uh you know you you have like the dream scenario where like you could still be invaded without knowing you’re going to be invaded like your Invader shows up and is probably like running you know if you’re like level 30 your your Invader shows up throwing rot pots yeah it’s like it’s always Rod pots now there’s yeah now there’s big ones so like it’s like there’s this constant arms race which I have like checked myself out of like I I went back and did some bloodborne invasions and I have like my stream has grown exponentially since like the last time I did bloodborne invasions and um I was doing some bloodborne invasions on stream and like I’m using like these weapons that are like I call them good enough where it’s like I have decent gems in the the weapons but like I didn’t go all out and then I have when I invade somebody and they have like the massively overleveled Phantom who can kill me in two hits I have like the Doomsday weapon that I can swap to where it’s like you know okay no there’s there’s 32 blunts in these in this here lwigs and I’m going to kill you in one hit like and and seeing Elden ring people see an Invader have that level of like advantage over hosts yeah is hilarious because like they’re like Jesus that’s disgusting and it’s like oh I know it used to you know like this was imagine Dark Souls 2 where like like imagine if if you’ve got like uh you know 100,000 Soul memory to you is like oh I’ve fought and died so hard but like to some Invader who knows the game it’s like and has been wearing the aape ring like y oh yeah all my weapons are maxed out my Armor’s maxed out like I I I’m I’m leveled better than you yeah like maybe you’ve only got you know 50 levels I maybe I got 150 levels and it doesn’t matter because we have the same Soul memory like or like in Dark Souls 1 showing up with like dark bead or black flame in the Undead Burg and you can upgrade your armor back back then too yeah oh a 99 soft Humanity y like I’m you can’t kill me I’m immortal like yeah like the the level of neutered that Invaders have become is something that people gripe about and I I go back and I watch Like Old Dark Souls 2 videos that I liked or you know and I’ll see somebody just like some guys climbing a ladder and somebody runs up behind him and casts Climax and just one shots him and everybody’s like yeah got his ass and I’m like what are we doing here like I mean I I guess but like that would get old for me so fast that like see I I just the thing is like the invading exper okay you know this is a good segue I I I’ll give my Spiel uh in a minute I guess but let me ask you this before I before I rant about that what do you think to the people that are like completely anti-invasion like what do you say to to anti-invasion people they’ll see scenarios like you were just describing where people will abuse the systems in ways that they obviously weren’t meant to be used they’ll go into the DLC and get the Hefty pots and then go to storm Veil at level 20 and throw you know one shot anybody that they can get a hefty pot with or a rot pot or or you know twink weapons um or they’ll just use mods you know what whatever whatever that that they do um what and then they’re like well I hate Invaders why are you coming into my game uh you why are you why are you what Joy do you get from from grieving me like what do you say to to the completely anti-invasion people why do you do it it’s one it’s it’s just fun um I I think that there is for sure I I would also like to preface this by saying that in Elden ring anti- Invader sentiment is like way down as opposed to Dark Souls 3 where it was like rampant I felt like I seriously felt like I was the only person on the internet who was like invading is fun and cool like and and actively trying to like have a conversation about it um it it is way toned down in Elden ring and I think that that’s because of the co-op thing I agree all right but what would I say like it’s just fun it’s just fun I think people get real upset about dying to another player they get more upset about that than they are to like dying to a mob but like there is fundamentally no difference at all as someone who spends more time invading in these games than like anyone else in the world if I show up in your game and I kill you in some silly funny way I don’t like sit back and be like I’m so badass you know like I I am not like there’s no it’s just fun is is you wouldn’t get mad at Monopoly for telling you to go to jail you know like so don’t get mad at Elden ring for like throwing an Invader at you it’s just it’s just like the the uhoh here comes the bad thing you know here comes the consequence to your having summoned somebody a lot of people are like well if you don’t like Invaders play offline you know and it’s like they don’t the the popularity of that uh seamless Co-op mod you know like people want to play with their buddies and like it’s just the Invader who’s playing against you is like not anti you we’re you know like we’re for the most part I I know there’s some [ __ ] out there and I won’t act like there’s not but like I if you come to like one of my streams you’re going to see like myself and like 90% of everyone in chat is like haha this is just some fun we’re having we’re just goofing we’re it’s it’s not no one is mad at you for playing the game with your buddies and we invade you and like I’ll [ __ ] talk you know but to me it’s like it’s trash talk it’s like being on a basketball court you know what I mean like it’s not it’s not anything personal or like serious I don’t you know I don’t like I’m just trying to be entertaining but like it’s not in it’s not like serious maliciousness or whatever I I just think people have like this idea in their head on both sides I think Invaders see uh co- opers as like you know these Reddit tier virgins who you know have to play with their their their buddies or whatever and then on the other side of that you have the co- opers who see the Invaders as these basement dwelling mutants who just want to spoil their fun we’re all playing the same game you know it’s just I couldn’t exist without co- opers like I I love Coopers I’m going to [ __ ] talk them but I I I I love them I think they’re great and I hope that they keep playing the game cuz I want to keep invading mhm uh and I’m not like I hope that even like even if I kill you I hope that I at least like give you something that is like memorable so that you and your buddy or maybe you kill me maybe you kill me in a way that you think is fun and memorable and it’s like it’s something it’s something that you guys record on your PlayStation and like you know it’s just a cool little thing that you guys can have it’s such a unique game mechanic that like there’s just no way you can be mad at it I don’t know how you feel about this but I think that you’re not really supposed to win in Invasions like it’s not you get limitations and restrictions placed on you as an Invader and I think specifically because you’re a balancing Force for for the co-op um and I don’t think that you’re really supposed to win all the time uh which is one of the reasons why I don’t get upset if you know I get stuck in a corner and I get blender to death by by people because you know they had fun doing it uh and I have fun when I when I managed to to win uh I I think that you’re you’re it’s good when the host kills you like it like let’s say that that we got one of those nice scenarios where we’re going to the whole level and we started at the beginning and we’ve managed to stay alive all the way to the end harassing them and they’ve proceeded through the level uh the resources are getting drained uh you know I haven’t been able to kill them but I’m getting close i’ get I’ve gotten a couple good good tries and they haven’t managed to kill me but they I’m running out of enemies like they’re we’re almost to the end of of the level here and then let’s say they get me they get me and they feel that moment of Triumph and they get some of their ESS back because because they got me and they get they get all happy and the whole the whole thing is is memorable and they they go on a forum and talk about it or they record it and they’re like oh yeah or they’re just you know they’re talking among themselves on Discord and they’re just feeling a moment of of Happiness that’s good and I think that’s what’s supposed to happen a lot of the times um I I I invade honestly because there’s not I don’t really feel like I have a choice there’s where else am I does this game mechanic exist you know if it existed somewhere else I would I would go and play it somewhere else but it doesn’t exist I don’t have a choice it’s like saying stop playing this game that you that you love I I can’t it’s only here I used to I used to be a liar and I said the same thing that you just said and then like wolong and uh sh what is the other one Lords of the Fallen these other games came out that tried to implement it and I haven’t I haven’t bothered even trying in their games um a lot of that is due to the fact that like I was like oh they have invasions in those games now and then I I check and see like are they any good and everybody’s like oh it’s broken and terrible and it doesn’t work and I’m like okay not even going to try um but yeah from software has been like working on this mechanic for a long time so like they’re at a point now where I know it’s unbalanced and it’s supposed to be unbalanced and I know that it’s supposed to be unbalanced like there’s obviously like the Zippy slash on the backhand blades that’s broken that’s something else that they’ll deal with but like they’re trying they’re making efforts towards it the the general idea of like asymmetrical player versus player is fundamentally an unbalanced thing and like if you want you know if you want a game that has 25 million players using it then you need to Nerf The Invader a little bit and you need to make make Co-op easier to access and you need all the stuff that they have done in Elden ring right you maybe don’t have to Nerf Invaders to get 25 million people to play the game but the the ease of access with co-op in Elden ring I think definitely the passwords you don’t need a Humanity you don’t need a great Rune you don’t need any of that you just make a little furled finger and summon your buddy um that’s how you get Timmy who loved the game to convince Billy to play it like I can play with you the whole time man like you can you can summon me and I’ll help you play through the game and now Timmy and Billy tell Kevin and Kevin you know and the the idea of invasions that you lose like people say like I don’t think you’re supposed supposed to win people will say I don’t think Invaders are supposed to win and when they when they say it like you’re not supposed to win I’m I’m like well I mean you well I mean all the time like I mean all the time yeah the distinction you made and especially the distinction you made where you were saying like you get to the end of the level and they they kill you right my my favorite one is that exact scenario but they go through the fog wall and they get to the boss yeah that’s I there are people when I’m streaming there are people who are like oh that’s a win like for me like they’re saying that’s a win for me no it’s not that’s a win for them yeah and and that’s like that’s the perfect win like I’m out of flasks I know I’ve put a dent in theirs and they made it to the boss and I was just this extra something I and and and despite my best effort they played together well and like because all it takes I just if I can separate any one of the three of you for seven or eight seconds I can probably kill you right and like if you are watching each other’s backs and still making progress and you get to the boss and this is a thing that I kind of miss the Dark Souls 1 Dark Souls 2 I’m going through the fog wall no you’re not like I kind of a part of me misses that but uh that’s the selfish part the part that understands you know that reward for the player of like you you did it you made it like now your reward is you’re going to fight a boss but like I can’t take your progress away from you I can’t unlight your bonfires you know so like I can’t unstake your Americas like you’re there and and you made it despite my best efforts as an enemy that existed uh I would like to think of higher intelligence than you know the dogs and stuff that are running around in the game MH um and so that’s you know that’s a good that’s a good experience for me and hopefully it’s a good experience for them as well right like that’s the sort of thing that like I absolutely I love that I I will always be mad anytime I run into a wall and get blender or run into a tree or a rock that will always piss me off because it’s it’s just like man like what would have happened if that dumb thing had not been there and that yeah like that that always it h that it irks me especially because Elden Elden ring does this thing and it it irks me in PVE too it’s like can we not just have flat Arenas to fight our ball bosses in do we have to fight gargoyles on stairs literally every time can I not just have a circle to fight the gargoyle sure yeah there’s a gargoyle fight in a circle there’s two gargoyles kiss my ass like that oh there’s so much and I I all the time anytime I like get tripped up on like a rock and some PE ears blender me or I get trapped on a tree and some boss Stomps on me I immediately bust out my very bad V video voice and I I will on the spot come up with lore for why that had to be exactly where it was and like the sad King who uh planted a tree in remembrance of his first wife you know oh my God that annoys the hell out of me but for the most part for the most part I I I handle there sometimes you just lose and I there’s no use getting like been out of shape about it like if it’s something you can learn from you know like okay I didn’t know I couldn’t Parry that or I didn’t know that you know that had hyper Armour whatever if it’s something you can learn from Great learn from it if it’s not just go to the next one because I promise you like as someone who streams and as someone who watches streams no one wants to hear you gripe about like there’s a certain C there’s a certain level of gripe that’s allowed where you’re like yeah okay streamer and then there’s like okay streamer like calm it down like you just you know it happens like it’s not it’s not Street Fighter where like it’s the the matches are ranked and like it you know what I mean like you’re actively trying to like I’m trying to hit Master you know like it’s not going to it’s not going to happen here this is this is fundamentally a silly thing and and and it should be treated as a silly thing but silly things are great well okay what do you think of the you’re you’re primarily an invasion guy I’m assuming yes do you do you also do duels and and enjoy duels no I’m not much of a dualist guy um I did a ton of duels in Dark Souls 3 and a lot of it was just sort of like like when Dark Souls 3 first came out just as an example the Black Knight glave was just totally busted and I was like how the hell are you supposed to beat this and so I would do duels and I would use the Black Knight glaive and I would like when people would beat me I would be like oh okay cool um with Elden ring I’ve just kind of got to the point where I I I’m like if I’m going to learn something I want to learn it in the heat I was about to snap my fingers and I was like that might be unpleasant to listen to but like imagine I’m snapping my fingers learn learn learn learn learn like I I need to be going at this Tempo and like anything else is boring and so like I want to learn everything like I have yet to fight I want to fight backhand blades I could just go to the arena and I could probably find somebody using and I could learn how to deal with them but it’s like I don’t I don’t want to learn how to deal with them oneon-one I want to learn how to deal with them you know 2v one but every time I find myself in a situation like that either a third guy shows up or uh someone immediately dies to some monster because the enemies in the DLC are way tougher than the base game enemies so I still I still and like I said this has been like a really rough couple of weeks for me so I I have not had a lot of time to really like you know go balls to the wall all invading yet um but uh like what little bit I have it’s like every time I see backhand blades I’m like all right here we go this is it and then like some third guy jumps me from behind or the the guy with the backhand blades gets slapped around by some horned uh birdfoot Crucible monster you know do you have a i I know you just said that you didn’t you haven’t had much opportunity to do any invasions but have you done any invasions in the DLC and if you have what’s your what’s your favorite area to invade in the DLC I have um uh I the place I’ve invaded the most is bellot um and it’s great because those big shadowy guys with like the Dark Souls 3i meat cleaver weapon they’re monsters yeah those dudes are tough um and then you’ve got like on the bridge you’ve got the two dudes shooting the spiral that’s nice and then if they make it through all that there’s I call him Bud those gold horn I that’s Bud yeah he’s got he he’s got champ Gund moves so I call him Champion Bud um yeah that guy’s a beast uh that’s just a really great area to invade um I will say this I have always compl exped that uh Elden ring made jump attacks like too free and I understand why they’re free uh they’re free so that you’ll use them in in in PVE especially when you do a jump attack your character’s model is so low to the ground that a lot of attacks will whiff over it mhm so like it’s a safe way to approach a boss um I get that in PvP it sucks because you’ll have like three dudes just jump jump you can’t Parry it it’s yeah yeah and and there’s no so like there’s a little fighting game you can play called Dive kick and it’s basically just all you can do is jump kick um and it’s it like it’s basically like what what if Street Fighter didn’t have a dragon punch um and that’s Elden ring uh I the dragon punch is like the anti-air like I’ve been begging for that and Alexander’s has it Alexander straight up does like a sh yuk yeah and I was like maybe in the DLC we’ll get that with the karate stuff um instead we got uh Mady we got the the wing stance um the wing stance heavy attack has jump eye frames that jump over jump attacks yeah and so like if you know a jump attack like you don’t you you can if you’re in the stance and someone jump attacks you you can react you can react yeah prediction yes exactly and if you’ve got a spear Talisman and a jar Shard uh like I feel like oh and the rana’s Cameo if you’ve got those three things on and you hit somebody with that like that’s like 1100 damage so like yeah love that that’s been that’s been oh I love that I I’ll take the low Poise damage of of the light great swords I’ll take it yeah for for just being able to punish jump attacks thank God also other stuff stuff that used to be like difficult to punish um it’s silly stuff the Malik’s Black Blade Ash of War mhm like things like that where it’s like all right I’m going to I’m going to just create Hit boxes all around me and it’s like okay well I can’t I can’t punish this like I could if I had Moon Veil if I had a laser beam I could punish this but I don’t I typically don’t play with lasers uh now I can punish that um with the wing stance uh there’s another one oh um eleanora pole blade that one the ashore on that like I can punish that now and I love that I love it so much that like I all the i i this is I’m sorry I’m just going to rant for one second I promise it’ll be over I feel like the DLC was like it it furthered this divide between like the two possible Elden Rings inside Elden ring there are two wolves one shoots a laser and the other has a cool stance and like give me all the stance stuff cuz that rules the laser stuff I could do without there’s so many lasers I think there should not be any lasers I I’ve I’ve come to the conclusion after invading for for a while that I don’t like the lasers I don’t like getting chased because there weren’t as many lasers in Dark Souls 3 yet had Mages okay and mages had tradeoffs uh but now every every person whatever ever build they they have whatever stat distribution that they’re using they have a weapon with a with a long ranged attack they have the you know the Reichard sword or the other sword or the moon Veil or the the one where has gravity cags under you like all everybody has something and they all Spam it I think we should just we need to go back return to a simpler time when only some of them had it another thing is Elden ring really wanted to give you spell options at low requirements which I appreciate as like a PVE I love that mhm I love that I don’t need to be a build to cast catch flame I didn’t have to have a build to cast combustion in Dark Souls 1 you know like I didn’t need stats for that I just got my little pyro glove and upgraded it and boom combustion uh that that’s good it feels good it’s nice to have that um maybe we win a little overboard when we let people turn into a giant dragon and breathe rot breath at us for the cost of literally one Talisman slot worth of stats yeah like anybody can have that and I don’t mind the breaths as much as some people do a lot of people just hate them period I hate how good they are on an optimized build but like most of the time you get hit by them they’re not optimized but the problem is that like just the hit stun on them yeah keeps you staggered long enough for somebody else to hit you and that’s about all it takes um I but yeah like you it doesn’t cost anything to have a laser in this game um I I know people think the lasers are cool so like make the laser game and then make the stance game yeah yeah okay that’s a great idea I think that should be like the solution to a lot of things all these things separate them out into other things separate them out into like three different games like you can have the the you have the bloodborne type and then you have like a SEO type and then the strength seiro we were discussing make a magic one you know make a magic SEO magic bloodborn where that’s the primary focus of of the game play you was just think there should be like a a there should be a laser like okay imagine Dark Souls 4 comes out and everybody’s like oh [ __ ] Dark Souls 4 okay cool you’re playing Dark Souls 4 and it’s all weapon stances like that’s the thing mhm and then like you find the laser and you’re like oh [ __ ] I found a laser and make the laser bad or make it just not work um and then in the item description you know in Flowery language but essentially just make the item description say uh you know be sure to check out armored Core this is the game you want like all the lasers like the shield and bloodborne or what’s kind of shaming you for trying to to block yeah like that like the the bloodborne Shield I was talking about this in PvP it’s pretty good yeah uh but yeah no it’s not going to do much for you against uh lwig or uh orphan but yeah essentially yes like um you know show people a laser and be like check out armored Core we’ve got every laser there’s machine guns and lasers that’s what we do over there come check it out and maybe you know like there’s a ton of people who just didn’t buy armored Core cuz they’re like oh I don’t know that I’m into giant robots shooting machine guns they would know it if they if they bought it and play it I I I at this point like when bloodborne came out I was like I don’t really care about werewolf Hunters so uh you know I’m in no rush to play this and the only reason I bought a PS4 was because Dark Souls 3 leaked and they were like uh yeah it’s going to be on PS4 and Xbox uh whatever it was Xbox One or whatever um and I was like oh so I’m I’m G to have to get a new console um or PC and I was like I’ll just get a PS4 and then I can play that bloodborne game and I loved it and then when Sakira was coming out I was like I I typically have no interest in ninja games at all but it’s from software so like I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt plus I didn’t think I would like bloodborne loved it same thing with armad core like I was like I don’t care about giant robots at all but I know I’m going to love this game and I did and so like there are a bunch of people who I’m sure just haven’t played it because it’s just not Knights and wizards and stuff and I totally understand that and and I’m not telling anybody to run out and spend $60 or whatever but if you ever see armored Core on sale or you know you’ve got the money to throw at it if you like every other from software game you’ve ever played you’ll probably like armored Core and more than that it’s it’s a it’s a it’s an interesting way for me as a person who had never played an armored Corp to see how they handle this whole other like genre in terms of like stories characters and it’s like it’s so unlike anything else it’s got a little bloodborne in it but like it’s so unlike anything else but they’re so good at it yeah and and it really I was like farming they could make a farming simulator and I’d be like day one I’m about to get into the whole Farming Simulator genre because of them I pre-ordered I pre-ordered the deluxe edition comes with a soundtrack in an art book uh yeah like it I was I was absolutely Gob smacked at how like different armored Core was and how good they were at that and I was like you can’t it’s so unfair that they’re just good at whatever they do like I know that they’ve been that’s on me for not being familiar with armored Core you know everybody who plays armored Core and has played armored Core is like listen to me say that and they’re like oh yeah we all knew we all knew okay I didn’t know yeah damn like hyper capitalist uh nightmare robot veterans versus the peak oil crisis is [ __ ] sick the soundtrack rules all the characters are great all the voice acting is topnotch yeah oh the voice acting would really got me like there were a lot of moments in there where I was like I was almost emotional to the point where I I I it was affecting my gameplay uh when you when you fight uh red the red gun guy as a boss battle you know cuz you’re you have to you have to there’s a mission where you can you can kill him uh what what was this [ __ ] name who was the the the leader of the red guns oh um Michigan [ __ ] Michigan I love Michigan so much I did not want to fight Michigan oh yeah the new game plus system armed oh that freaked me it freaked me the [ __ ] out it freaked me the [ __ ] out when I got to a mission and it gave me the option to do something different things changed along the way and they kept topping themselves with that cuz when you get to the third new game and they’re like okay protect the Strider and like what do you mean I got to protect the Strider I’ve been destroying the Strider so many times um and and then it blows up immediately and it goes along that whole weeder quest line it was it was sick yeah and you have to fight six bone Wheels mhm in the worst fight of all time it was very difficult but yeah I like oh God yeah they did such a good job I was actually did did you see the interview where they were interviewing um Egon his voice actor yes I was curious about that because he was like yeah Miyazaki was like in the studio and like he’s so obviously like the guy like when you know like I was I was I was every interview that I’ve that I’ve had that I’ve seen with people talking about meeting Miaki like almost every single one talks about the how he has presence like how he’s got an aura all the time he’s that guy like I’ve read tons of interviews with like voice actors and other people talking about yeah he he’s that guy and I’m like these people don’t know each other they they don’t even know anything about video games there’s not there’s not a collab collaborated effort to Hype him up because they know who he is they don’t know who he is he just is that guy I just I was like really kind of surprised to learn that like he’s there for that show no no no that’s that’s one of the things that I I’ve always I’m always pointing out to people he this isn’t even like the first time I’ve read something like that he’s always been the guy where he’s like now you’re doing the The pre-rendered Cinematic wrong let me show you how it’s supposed to be and then he’ll show them and SP in loose sleep over it there stories of where like he uh had to sleep in the plane because he he spent all all night with the with the Cinematic people for Dark Souls 1’s pre-rendered cut scene it’s like no you’re not holding the fire right you have to hold it like this like like it’s about to break you got to really protect it we love our perfectionist workaholic freaks yeah I yeah like I I knew that like I he speaks more English than he does in public um and and I I I I knew that a lot of the dialogue was probably written in English but like the idea that he would actually be there for line reads and you know the fact that he would you know can you get him to be louder you know like yeah the fact that for six hours for like six hours uh which which uh was unusual for the Egon voice actor my entire playthrough man with the first time I did Egon um the first I like he shows up and he’s yelling and I was like Jesus what a psycho and then the second time you meet him he’s like he’s chilled out a little bit I think and then the third time you meet him he’s watching you fight two dragons and um I I was like I was I was the game had just come out and I was like talking to the people watching me stream and I was like it’s I was like I get it because you know imagine if you’re this voice actor if you know anything about this game you know that you’re showing up in an expansion so like people people have already played the game for you know 100 hours and now you’re showing up like so if you want to like really like leave a mark on people you know you need to like nail this right you need to be like Unforgettable um and and super over the top and like I I so when I got to the the the Bale boss fight and I saw a summon sign and like immediately he just comes out of the ground screaming I was like I was like this guy rules so much like in in a short amount of time he was able to like win me over like as the audience you know and it’s because he’s like just absolutely throwing everything he has Behind these these lines and it’s one of those things where like you know like you were saying like these are these are actors right they don’t know anything about this video game they don’t know anything about probably any video game so a lot of the stuff that they’re saying is is um probably nonsensical to them like in their in their in their line reads and this is a thing that always kind of like I can always spot bad voice Direction in a game MH where a character is responding to someone but the way that the character responds is not doesn’t make sense it’s almost like they didn’t have the frame of reference that we do as the audience and I’m like see like a good director right here would say hey when you read this line you’re answering a question the question was this right and the person who’s asking it was asking because of this thing you are knowledge you know there would be some direction there and a lot of times it’s just one of those things where people are just sort of like they don’t have that and it’s obvious that they don’t have it because they just say this line and it it’s like that it sounds like this line came out of nowhere and and that’s never a thing in these games yeah and from software Games The Voice Direction is always really high quality it’s it’s it’s really weird almost and now that I know that Miyazaki personally attends a lot of these voice right it makes way more sense yeah that like because it’s it’s like you are literally saying gibberish like so like uh vilhelm in Dark Souls 3 no Bell Tolls and yet something Ashen something something imagine if someone just handed you that and said okay read this with no frame of reference no context no nothing and you were so curious no belt holes and yet the ashes whatever like what do those words mean you know like nothing about any of that makes sense to you unless there’s somebody there who’s like okay listen everybody in this world is made out of ashes and the ashes wake up when bells ring like there needs to be somebody to at least give you that so anyway I’m not sure they even that they even do that because egon’s voice actor didn’t know Bale was a dragon like yeah he didn’t know anything so there like uh so the guy was like talking about how the direction that he that he kept getting it’s it’s like he thought he was going too over the top and but no the things that that he kept getting told is like can you do more you got any more in you any do you got can you make it more dramatic more more stuff and I’m starting to suspect that maybe like Miyazaki wanted him to get tired or something like to get like around hour four or five he’s like all right now we’re getting the good stuff cuz because you know egon’s you know he’s desperate stly kubri yeah yeah oh yes I love that oh that’s no that’s brilliant I love that theory that’s great yes oh and it uh yeah it even makes sense too cuz like I there’s no way like I feel like if I was reading that like the the Moby Dick stuff would just jump out of the lines at me like wait a minute wait a minute all right so there’s this thing named Bale and it’s [ __ ] me up and now I want my revenge on it and then at the end like I am almost verbatim Captain ah habing over here yeah with a hell of harpoons yeah I mean it it’s very obvious yeah but yeah I had not considered the fact they were just making this poor dude exhausted so that his unhinged voice lines would make you yeah that’s fantastic it’s just a theory but it’s it’s my personal head Cannon now as soon as I heard it oh it’s yeah it should be it’s great oh man what were we talking about where where were we at before something about PVP I don’t know something about PVP um all right I guess we’re we’re I’ll do one more thing um PVP related how do you go about making builds in elen ring like do you do you play on playstation do you use mods uh yeah I play on playstation and for me um it’s it’s it’s my job right so like I just I start a new save file and I just okay let’s go and I go get all the stuff that I know I’m going to want that I have like a checklist there’s actually a video on my YouTube channel um if you go to my YouTube channel and like you go to like the front page part of it you should see this video and it’s essentially like Elden ring checklist for like every build and it’s like this is I the the path I take to get all my flasks because it doesn’t matter what build I’m playing I’m going to need those um so like flasks and stuff like that but like that’s that’s for every build but for me part of the fun is like okay I want to make a colossal sword guy um so let’s start the game and let’s think about like what level is we want that doesn’t have to be like you know in stone or anything but like if I know I’m going to make a strength build and I know that I can get away with 10 decks or 11 decks okay well then I’m probably going to start uh whatever that starting class is I can’t remember um it’s the one that’s strengthen Arcane hero uh if I yeah hero if if I’m going to need a little decks uh maybe I’ll start Vagabond um but you know whatever I don’t think too hard on that because like at at a unless you’re playing like a really low level that sort of stat efficiency like it matters like in the end I get it if you want to try really really really hard but I at a certain point I stopped giving a [ __ ] right but like whatever I’ll I’ll try and pick the most efficient starting class and then I’m like okay let’s rush to the thing we want and let’s get that and let’s play through the whole game with that and let’s make our build as we play through with that thing and that’s like that’s my that’s what I do a lot of PVP people especially people who are like just solely focused on on PVP um you know they have mules where someone has played through the game uh never leveled up never upgraded a weapon and they’ve grabbed every item and every spell and you know you you can just take their mule and play it actually interesting if you’re playing on PlayStation and you ever invade someone who’s called Elden Lord uh there’s a good chance that that is uh the community mule um and the person using it just hasn’t changed the name uh and so if they have 99 sleep pots uh and 99 Starlight shards don’t be surprised um but yeah the for me like the the the making a build is just like that’s part of it for me um that’s part of the fun I I I’m a PVP guy but like I’m only slightly less a PVE guy right if that makes sense yeah I’m more of a PVE guy than I am a PVP guy but I struggle to replay Elden ring as much as I did the other Souls games because um part of the reason that I replayed the other Souls games over and over was because I liked to well yeah the goal was to make a build to invade in maybe a bunch of different levels or or you know the metal level in a bunch of different builds so you know a dozen two dozen however many builds I was going to make but it was also to go through the game and pick stuff up and read the item descriptions again and and and you know do do the lore and then try and recreate the experience as much as possible and that didn’t take very long and I can really explore all the areas um and be very happy doing it but with Elden ring uh it’s like massive it’s huge like I can’t I can’t go to all the places and I don’t want to go to all the places not every mini dungeon has uh value um something relevant yeah and you know so the checklist is important and you got to go here and get your you pick up your item so I strug I struggle to do that and so with the DLC I’ve kind of if I have if I have any major complaint about the DLC is that I can’t just go to the DLC I would like to just go to the DLC and not go through the bass game because I’ve gone through the Bas game a lot and I I just don’t I just want to I just want to be in the DLC now so i’ I’ve taken to mods these days and I’ll even enjoy the the base game more if I can give myself stuff with mods like the deflect tier now I can go through the whole game with the deflect tier I can fight godric with a deflect tier I can fight um all the bosses with a deflect tier and see what it’s like it’s by the way it’s fantastic It’s [ __ ] amazing it’s really incredible uh I I’m happy to go through the the base game when I’m when I’ve got a bunch of new stuff to experiment with but uh I I don’t think I would want to do that normally um if if you know what I mean I no yeah I absolutely do I there’s a this is just kind of like a I’m a nerd um there’s a there’s an aspect to Invaders in Elden ring where like they are invading you it feels like um and like lorewise and Vaders are very interesting in Elden ring when you meet the dung eater like in the round table hold he’s an Invader and he’s sitting there and he’s he’s like hey what’s up right and then you go meet his you go meet like his physical real person and he’s a raving lunatic MH he’s completely out of his mind um and so like it really feels like there’s like this separation of like the Invader and the person that that right but anyway it feels like Invaders are sort of like like they leave fragments of themselves behind and that is sort of in the lore with Co-op and invasions you invade and you can co-op in places that you’ve been like it’s like you’ve left a part of you behind Okay um and so the idea of not unlocking every place like I have builds where I’m like I want to unlock everything so that I can invade absolutely everywhere right but I I have also grown to appreciate invading in places that I’ve been to make my build because it feels like a part of that like all my most of my characters are like very like lore appropriate for Elden ring like I’m not invading you with like you know uh you know no scope 360 XXX or whatever like all my characters are like they’re somewhat Beed yeah this character looks and has a name like they would be a part of this world and um so the idea that like you’re I’m invading you in places I have been places that I went to in order to like make my build on my journey um and co-ops the same way like you are co-oping with people who have been to the place you have been and like they want to help you on your journey and so like that’s sort of like the nerd part of me is like I love that but like the the person who remembers what it was like to have a real job and not just play these video games for a living is like yeah this this this could be a bit much I could understand how some people would get uh you know like look man I just don’t have time I I I want I I I prefaced my build making earlier with like I totally get people who just use mules and stuff like that um I you know like I typically like I I don’t like having infinite sleep pots and infinite rot pots I that I don’t like having all that stuff like because at a certain point it’s like how much am I winning and how much I I call that the at everyone build because it’s like you’re on a Discord and then there’s like at everyone hey could somebody drop me literally every item so it’s like the at everyone like I I don’t want to win with a bunch of sleep bolts and sleep pots and you know like a bunch of consumables like I I have builds like if if if I use a Starlight shard in an an invasion when I’m streaming I want people in my chat to be like oh [ __ ] he’s serious like he just leaned up in his chair like it’s on now you know the the idea that you have all of these like cons like Golem arrows for the love of God right um like you have all these consumables that are just like capable of of insane amounts of damage or you know whatever like and you just throwing them around all willy-nilly it’s like it’s it’s it’s not going to bother the average player if you’re an Invader and you use that stuff you invade an somebody and they’ll never know the difference right you know but to me as someone who like knows how the sausage is made I’m like uh it’s a little gross you know but you know it’s I totally as far as like somebody just like yeah my friend dropped me all the souls and all the weapons and I just got to run and grab all the upgrade stuff like I totally get that like you know what I mean like if you got a full-time job and you don’t get to sit around and play video games for 40 hours a week then yeah like you just want to try some stuff out um I don’t mind some of the consumable stuff but I do mind some other ones and you know I guess there not like so so what the Starlight shards those do bother me CU like you don’t you don’t have infinite Starlight shards to to just always get your FP topped off at all times when you’re you know if you give those to yourself but also yeah it also completely negates the Mind stat right and that drives me crazy right like oh yeah you shouldn’t have to have that stat to do what you want to do everybody else has to have it but you don’t you deserve to not have it because somebody dropped you 699 of this piece of [ __ ] yeah no I get that uh but stuff that you could farm that I’m fine with like because cuz all I’m doing is like taking the farming part out of it I don’t want to farm for stuff that I that is farmable you know I’m not going to I don’t want to spend hours getting a bunch of stuff so I can use it in Invasions um but stuff that you can’t Farm like the Starlight sharts that does bother me for for you know for the reason basically the reasons you negates the mindset yeah go ahead the thing like the the the string Bell bearing in the DLC like like thank God for that thank God for that because like the the like just let people buy the stuff and it won’t bother anybody yes like you know like the I never I’m never going to go farm string and so as a result I’m never going to have those Buffs so when I fight my 10,000th uh sleep grease Ripple halber and I’m rolling my eyes like oh boy you know what like I’m sure you farmed all that sleepy flower or whatever like it’s to me as a person who like knows how you got that build I’m like GH you know like [ __ ] off but the average player is just never going to know that you you know like that’s all just duped whatever um so the fact that everybody can just buy the string now is like okay great fantastic the fact that you can buy toxic mushrooms so that you can make those pots like okay fantastic all of that’s fine um but yeah like Starlight shards the the what in the hell you can carry you can carry one divine blessing you can carry three meat dumplings and you can carry 10 Starlight shards yeah just limit it just make it one and boom this is we’re done like we don’t even you can find Farm them all or dup them all you want I don’t care it’s the fact that you can use 10 yes that that’s absurd limit it to one like the divine blessing yeah like there’s just no reason that you should be able to pack around 10 of those things especially when like how many can you get period like on a playthrough like 30 so so if few enough that I’m not going to be using it for a PVP Invasion right exactly like I yeah I the other thing like I I always this bothered me a lot also in in Dark Souls 3 when people would use Sig brows uh yes I’m like I know how you got that [ __ ] SI brow don’t you [ __ ] don’t you lie to me it’s not like it’s not like Dark Souls I where like you know oh we’re duping you know 99 Divine blessings and 99 Humanities and M like like fine I guess but like if I can get to your back that’s not going to matter you know um you better use it smart but with the Sig brow and then God that flask cancel animation yeah oh Jesus Christ is that still around that that that’s not around anymore right it is not Elden ring thank God it was in the network test yes okay they fixed it perfect but uh yeah like that was one of those things I I did that in Dark Souls 3 like way before the and I it was an accident and I remember doing it somebody made a clip of me doing it and I was like what the hell was that and the clip is like it’s one of my more popular clips and it’s not one of those clips that like I shared around you know what I mean like I didn’t post it anywhere I didn’t make the clip it was just one of those things where I like but yeah I I legitimately somebody told me this again I have no idea how true it is somebody told me that that was like some glitch that had been discovered and kept quiet and Secret by like the Korean PVP community and that they like they basically waited for the patches in the game to be finished before uh so that it would just always be around and I don’t know how true that is and how much of it some weird anti- Korean player bias or something I don’t know but like I oh my God like the the the Elden ring version of that is the chainsaw I’m sure oh yeah that there is some there’s probably some way to get to that glitch that no one is talking about so that it doesn’t get patched out of the game so that once the game is finished once they’re done with the patches the chainsaw will still exist uh and I I like I dread knowing that but you know I thankfully don’t see it very often in fact I almost never see it um I I you do the only I the only time I really see it is um in uh crab chat ganks why do they stand in the Crab Shack is it just to buy more crab is that literally the whole thing water lightning yeah the the the the water plus lightning builds like they all run that you’ll notice that like they all have a hard swap nefi L axe that they’ll pull out you know like if you start whipping their ass and a second Invader shows up and now you’re chasing them they all hard swap to that FY L ax and do the ash of war and it’s like a one shot um but I think and and I don’t think they know this but the reason that they’re there is because every Invader has to go there ah if if you want the recusant finger you have to have been there well you don’t have to have been there but you probably went there well I mean because you did you you’d have to go there anyway because you have to go through leria and like I think that whole area counts as leria yeah yeah yeah I somebody told me there’s a way to skip like all of leria on making builds and I have not seen I’ve not seen it and I don’t know like what the no I guess I could figure it out okay so if you went to the Tower of return from weeping Peninsula and you went to the treasure chest that that warped you to uh Lind and you use the taunter tongue and The Invader spawned in the elevator they would bring the elevator up to you and do that can they do that yeah oh wow yeah so yeah I guess that would let you skip leria I think I so I know you talked about a little while ago where where you like that uh you have to have been to a place to be able to invade it you like the lore of it you you like it conceptually uh I think that’s fine but I think in future games if they want to I think the change they made to to Elden ring where you can just invade anywhere you’ve been right like just brilliant I have no idea how we haven’t done that up until this point just perfect thank you let me invade all all the places that I’ve been to so far and try to invade them okay it would be nice if there was a menu I could go to and selectively say I don’t want to invade in this cave I don’t want to in want want World face I I think the fact I think the fact that they gave that to co- opers in in the last patch is like a pretty good sign if if you had asked me like a year and a half ago if I thought we would ever get WX dust um I would for anyone who does WX dust was a mod for Dark Souls 3 that allowed you to invade not just the area you were standing in but every area in the game um that you had been to and it was when the mod came out for Dark Souls 3 everybody immediately started playing on PC because that’s such a good mod for people who like invasions and it wouldn’t get you banned because it wasn’t doing anything it wasn’t supposed to do uh so when from software actually implemented that and to be fair they had kind of implemented it already and I actually discussed this with wex dust’s creator uh metal Talon metalon um in bloodborne you could invade chalice dungeons you could ring a bell at the Chalice dungeon graveyard or headstone and it would it would search everywhere that it could for any dungeon you met the requirements for and it would let you invade them mhm and and that was kind of where the idea came from I I made a video about that years and years ago I was like why is this not in the thing anyway WX dust came out great I never thought we would actually get it and then they actually gave it to us in Elden ring so the idea of like man please let me stop invading millenia’s hallway please let me stop invading moog’s hallway please let me stop invading you know every one of these boss hallways and yeah there’s a few dungeons I’d like to turn off as well um and then like they have different sections to to so like if you if you do the old meth and be like invade nearby if you’re in like the bottom section of bellet you’ll invade in the bottom section of bellet if you’re in the top section you’ll end up right right next to the lon dance every time um and you’ll spawn inside that tree you’ll spawn inside the tree and the people are at the boss store so that you know they could probably have highlighted sections of the map and be like okay this this is one of the spawn rate tell just tell me where the spawn locations are tell me where where you’re going to try and send me uh and let me turn them off you already have done it for the Coopers you can you can turn off where you get summoned to for the Coopers so I think we’re we’re moving in the right direction we’re moving at good at a good Pace I I’ll be honest I I love Elden ring like it’s my favorite game of all time um I really hope for the next game they do like that that they like reain it in a little bit sizewise oh um mhm for the multiplayer sake um and just for the sake of like the you know like replayability I I’m more likely like if I wasn’t a streamer or something like that I probably more likely to replay airo you know than I am Elden ring after if like Jesus Christ you know like I’m I’ve played through the DLC like four times maybe like and not even all the way through I’ve just run four characters through different spots to get all the stuff that you know that they can use on their builds mhm and I’m like I’m kind of ELD and ringed out like I you know like I I’ve been playing uh uh unicorn Overlord on my switch oh how is that like it’s good it’s a little animey for me but um Miyazaki a is like my he’s my goat right but he’s up there like number the he’s tied uh with with my with my man yasumi matsuno who created uh Final Fantasy Tactics and tactics ogre and uh uh the other one battle ogre ogre battle ogre battle um this it’s basically ogre battle uh you just you know you you you you you have an army made up of units and then you put you know uh you put some of those units together and that’s uh uh you know whatever that’s called I I was actually really interested in that game uh because it’s vanillaware and I like vanillaware and I think Atlas also I don’t know if Atlas just published it or also had something to do with it but I I know that they both are on the title yeah and uh but someone told me that the story is not that great and you know I and I’m not used to I don’t I never played you know Tactics Ogre I don’t know I don’t understand what I’m looking at on the screen and I I played the demo for like 5 minutes and I realized I don’t control the characters I have to make all the decisions beforehand and I might I might like that but because it’s so weird uh and I’m so not used to it I’m like and then some someone told me the story is just kind of mid like it’s not great um I’m like I don’t know if I want to devote like 60 hours or her long because these jrpgs tend to be pretty long yeah uh if I’m not if I don’t enjoy the story I’m really a story oriented person it’s it’s a lot of like little stories that you know it’s like oh I’m the exiled Prince and uh I’ve been exiled oh no uh and I’ve got this like little group of holdouts that hang out with me uh and now it’s time to fight the Rebellion uh and here we go we’re fighting the rebellion and you go to different um like kingdoms and townships and you you liberate each one and each one has like whoever’s presiding over it and then at the end of some of them you know like there’ll be a little story about that person and it’s like okay at the end of it okay you know this dude was uh he was a thief do you want to execute him or do you want to spare him um okay this person was like an honorable Noble Knight who uh you know they just they joined up with the other team um when you were exiled to spare you know their citizens uh do you want to let them join your party or do you want them do you want to let them keep presiding over this town and so it’s it’s thus far for me it’s just a bunch of little stories like that and and they’re all serviceable they’re all fine nothing like you know wow this really makes me think you know but the the gameplay itself is fun enough the the thing you were describing where um you you tell the units like hey this is what I want you to do and in this situation I want you to do this differently um is like right out of Final Fantasy X for me it might I never played I’ve played Tactics Ogre but that’s a different game from ogre battle uh so this game is more like ogre battle which is like way before my time but you know like that’s my guy matsuno and he even tweeted about uh unicorn Overlord he was like hey check this out and I was like all right fine if he tells me to I’ll do it um but yeah like that that that in Final Fantasy X it was called the Gambit system and it was basically like all right I’m going to set up a bunch of different um oh yeah yeah so like if if someone’s below 40% HP you heal them if the enemy is weak to Fire cast Fireball it’s just that but like much more okay I see yeah you just awakened old memories of me playing Final Fantasy X and and messing with that that system I I had almost completely forgotten about it honestly if if you played Final Fantasy X and did some of those like optional mini bosses you were basically a programmer by the time you got done because like those fights were just strings of code there there’s nothing that I I have not come across like any level of uh that same like oh my God like having to set all these different priorities um in unicorn but uh but it is fun it’s a fun little game and it’s cute and it’s it’s something that I can just sit down and play with my switch and uh kind of relax as opposed to like okay I got to figure out how to fight Rana but I’m going to you know this time I’m using a weird build that has like a spear and a you know so like how am I yeah you it’s just something nice do you do you think that you you’ll get burnt out quicker on the DLC simply because you you go through the the main game normally and you’re not you’re not using mods of any kind I don’t think so because most of my characters are all parked like right there where they they can enter the DLC I see if they’re in new game like I I I have one character that I’m going to go into like new game plus two and I’m going to do what you were talking about earlier where you go through the whole game using the deflect tier but like I’ll just be a new game plus two doing it um but the burnout is like the leadup to the DLC and all the hype and then the DLC itself and then that first playthrough was like so hype yeah and then like now lately I’ve been like running through with all my different builds and I’m like okay how do you approach this fight with this setup how do you approach this fight as a pure Mage which like by the way Miriam’s Vanishing oh my god oh yeah so good so amazing oh my God no one ever sees the piercer coming anymore it’s beautiful like I when I when I first found it I was like oh well this seems kind of silly and then I was like wait you can cast spells out of it it just chain casts into any other spell oh it breaks lock on I was I love it um I didn’t even know it breaks lock on I this explains a lot explains a lot of people’s reaction oh my God I like when a little like a coopper is like got their Shield up and they’re just walking backwards against me and you do the vanishing it breaks the lock on and they’re they’re trying to backpedal instead they turn their back to you yes oh my God yeah it’s it’s so good and like yeah like there’s a it’s like there’s so much stuff and I’m like oh I’ve got a gravity build oh I can’t wait to get some of this gravity stuff and try some of the gravity stuff on my but when I’m doing that I’m thinking like all right my gravity build how how are they going to get through the DLC like what what you know like obviously there’s the stuff I want to go get but like uh you know they’re going to have to like approach it because they use different weapons right um or a different weapon type in general or like this build I’m I’m running through with like my Arcane intelligence build and like I barely I rarely use weapons on that build that’s like mostly a pure spellcaster so I’m like casting Bubbles and like okay how do you hit a boss with the bubble and like it’s kind of fun um I I I oh and have we’ve been gushing about bosses but meser also we should be gushing about him he’s beautiful he’s fantastic boss he’s so good when you walk in and he does that orb like right off the bat every time like every build has something they can be doing right there yes um Burno flame when I was playing through my pyromancer I was casting berno flame uh and that does like a huge chunk of his health and then I had enough time to cast a fully charged o flame and so like with my bubble build I could like I had enough time to like cast a bubble and have and like hit him with a bubble and then have another bubble waiting for him right where he would land and then carrying great sword carry and piercer yada yada like oh he’s so much fun like there’s so many fun ways to approach him and uh yeah I like everything about him I like him gameplay-wise I like his presentation I like his his uh dramatic cut scene and his [ __ ] snakes in his second phase changing it up uh it it reminded me of bloodborne with that whole bloodborne snake thing yeah I didn’t even think about that but yes he’s absolutely that’s the the uh Shadows of yarum snake thing yeah holy [ __ ] didn’t even consider that yep it just is it just is yep I I he I love mesir also like the lore stuff everybody was like I can’t believe they didn’t talk about Melina in the DLC at all and I’m like what are you talking about that’s his sister yeah like there’s the I have been team melan’s mother was the Glide Queen oh uh oh that’s a good team I have been on that team I I and I’m like man is she not but now I’m on team Mesmer and Melina obvious or brother and sister obviously I’m on team they had two moms okay so you think it’s America glite Queen yeah I like I think that the glow Queen was whatever was in charge I cannot believe that they showed us that cut scene in the trailer and then had the audacity to not put it in the [ __ ] game they’ve been doing that [ __ ] they did it with armored Core they did it with with Elden Ring’s uh story trailer they they I I’m very frustrated there’s I mean like I don’t really like there’s parts of it I don’t like this the Elden ring story trailer I was like yeah whatever you know but the fact that they it’s like you know it’s Ron versus Millennia okay cool like I can watch that trailer like it’s all there that America thing yeah what that’s all I have to go on show me more it’s it seems like she’s pulling like that snake thing out right and then the fact that in Bonnie Village God damn it see we should okay here I’m going to have to stop you because I I we should have gotten into the lore things beforehand I didn’t realize you were you were super interested in the lore but now we’re like two and a half hours in and I like I only got a few minutes left and if we start talking about we’re not like if if we if we end up doing another podcast we should just start with the lore because uh that’s that’s that sounds good but also it’s perfect to just not finish any [ __ ] discussion about it like they do I don’t know if you if you know this but like uh I’m kind of like the lore Doomer guy in uh in my streams like in my videos I I I’ll make lore videos and I’ll talk about lore and I’m deeply interested in lore and I think I have a good understanding of the lore in all the other games but for Elden ring I’m just like the Doomer Guy where it’s like there’s no there there’s no consensus in the community and I’ll constantly put up polls on basic questions and it’s 50/50 all the time on on the most basic [ __ ] uh and and the best you can get is 20% uh detractors and I’m like 20% is a huge that’s a fifth of the community that’s a fifth of people that can’t agree on the most basic of facts um but it’s usually 50/50 just a thing this is just a little thought experiment okay and it will take a second yeah all right so uh Mika famously has to discard his body in order to become an imperian right okay uh or is an imperian but has to has to discard their body in order to achieve some sort of like otherness godhood yes let’s go with that although I can already tell you that if we put that up for a poll there’d be about a 50/50 uh split and they and there’d be people that’s like well that’s just a coincidence he’s he’s discarding his body because he’s trying to get rid of uh his race and and all these other things that came from previous things so that he can make his his new order untainted with previous orders stuff but but like I I that’s that’s that that’s fine that’s fine let’s let the detractor say that I would now I offer up Ronnie also yes discards her body yes all right so so now we’re like oh okay okay okay but now and this is where I invite you to to to go out you know think about things not just like as they are directly stated to you in the game the item descriptions but also consider what you see there’s another imperion in the game melenia right her body is already [ __ ] to death by the time we meet her and then we fight her and we kill her and her body is no more right MH like and now she blossoms now she also flowers the game never says that the game never is like but they show you they’re like yeah like she doesn’t have an arm her legs are gone she’s all she’s and now you’re beating her and you beat her and you’ve you’ve what was left of her body is and now she can finally now she can finally take on another form right and so you think that her her transformation into the goddess of rot is actually her ascending to real godhood the way Micha does not exactly because what Micha did required like some gate which apparently is like a big deal and More in line with what Amica did and More in line with what Ronnie does the fact that like they have to they have to mess with the order before and melenia is almost just sort of like it’s just her body like she hasn’t gone through the other steps like Ronnie but like we’re just getting to the point where like you know Micha has had to discard his body Ronnie has had to discard her body melenia never says I’m going to discard my body but like she’s she just does through fighting and then us and I it’s one of those things where we’re video game players and we’re like oh her health bar went away she has another form right but I think it’s important to remember that like in the case of most bosses not all but most you get them down to like half health and that’s when they’re like oh now I fight as a different guyh in the case of melenia it’s like no she’s gone she’s wiped out you beat her her health bar is gone and now it’s back now she’s now she’s different now she’s blossomed right and and okay it it doesn’t matter if you buy into my theory or not right all that matters is that like you look at it from a a different perspective than maybe you were like oh I not considered the fact that like yeah her body is banged up by the time we meet her and yeah we do kill her and then yeah she does do that right so like the I have not gone like full lore yet because I was waiting for the DLC to come out I knew that there would be like so much stuff that was like we’re just not going to know anything until the whole story is there but now that the whole story’s here the first thing I’m like oh michl is discarding all of his flesh right okay Ronnie had to discard all of her flesh interesting oh Ronnie had to kill a guy did Micha also have to kill a guy um it just seems like there are like the these parallels uh that were but but it’s stuff that’s never like outright stated but it’s it’s made me sort of like okay start drawing connections start drawing connections yeah and those were connections I was never going to draw because there was nothing to draw them to but now there is especially with all the America stuff you know honestly it probably would have been best to not try and make connections beforehand and wait for the DLC because I think a a problem that the DLC kind of uh created is uh a second Vela situation where people people got married to the their ideas of what was going to happen and once we saw what actually is happening they became upset and oh misaki’s a hack because what my my head Cannon wasn’t actually uh what what was going on you know honestly would have I yes go ahead did I did the exact same thing with dark souls 3i I was like why are we not in laor yeah what is this [ __ ] yeah the big ones yeah so like it now I like after playing it and and like I had to like sort of like un-brainwash myself from my own like lore theories and approach it differently I’m like oh there’s all kinds of connections that people don’t see that I think are accurate and no one has ever picked up on them because they had something else in their head and so that this BL yeah it’s blind I I feel like that I’m I feel like I’m Afflicted with that like I need I I’m going through the process of like detoxing myself because I I’m I’m sure I’m blind to things I’m not saying because I’m mourning over my theories not being right yes yeah like that that the the Vela situation was like I I it made me re-evaluate Dark Souls 1 and I was like oh we don’t need Vela vela’s done yeah like the the bird picks you up in the UND dead Asylum and it drops you off and then this stupid madeup uh fantasy of of this propaganda spread by gods yeah right this um [ __ ] the what what is it the what does Oscar of aor call it uh the the well it’s it’s just it’s just what what those who are Undead are chosen Undead prophecy yeah Prophecy of the undead or the prophecy of the chosen Undead right in his homeland they they they talked about it all the time and in a lot of people’s homelands apparently they talked about it all the time what what’s what’s interesting about that is when you talk to Oscar he’s like oh hey what’s up yeah I freed you yada yada hey man I’m hurt listen can I tell you this thing and it’s a thing my family has passed down I’m talking like a normal guy okay here comes the prophecy thou who art Undead art chosen it’s like why why are we talking like this now right like why do why did why did they decide to make the distinction from Oscar just being some guy who’s talking to you to like boom flowery language and it’s because flowery language is is gwindel flowery language is the gods it’s gwi ofir it’s gwindel that’s how they talk it’s not how it’s not how Oscar talks right and and that’s because that’s who’s passed along this thing that isn’t real and isn’t true yes but you do it anyway because the Big Bird dropped you off and you did karmic Justice on the gods right so it was like oh yeah we don’t need Vela she’s finished she’s done she did what she was supposed to do we were the agent of Vela from that’s the whole point regardless of what ending we chose we delivered karmic Justice to the gods we we fulfilled their stupid prophecy which was never meant to be fulfilled and was always [ __ ] but along the way we killed the god and uh you know well they wanted you g wanted you to kill the the Gods like he he wanted he he sacrificed his soul and then he he wants you to burn the gods to keep the the fire going FR framp his ally yeah yes like I don’t think that um I don’t think that Gwyn I don’t think Gwyn had like a lot of love for gwindel but I don’t think Gwyn wanted you I don’t think Gwyn wanted you to find and kill gwindel and like shatter this illustrious illusion of an Orlando I guess technically you don’t because in three gwindel and still Al right like this is why I hate Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 it’s because like it was so like yeah yeah the story was the story was told you know here’s the thing Dark Souls 2 and three kind of uh their whole purpose in existence is to just elaborate the story of Dark Souls 1 so that it’s easily comprehensible uh that’s that’s their whole thing that’s their whole thing two two there are like at least three NP in Dark Souls I that hammer home what the theme is supposed to be in explicit language M McGuff the blacksmith guy uh the the Mage guy that that uh with the black cloak I don’t remember his name uh but they just yes yes uh they just tell you they just tell you feale cursed one yes uh they they don’t they don’t make it they don’t hide it they just tell you that’s what the theme is and then in Dark Souls 3 the whole the whole thing of the fire is like it’s it’s seriously dying like you can’t actually light it very well it’s over like it’s done the people that have lit it before no longer want to light it and refuse to light it again and these are like these are people that that made the choice already and they’re like you know that’s [ __ ] that we’re not doing that can I inter can I can I interject real quick to elaborate on how fantastic that is as meta commentary on the idea of we don’t want to make this game mhm it’s it’s so good like back these people to do the thing they’ve already done none of us want to do it we want want to be over drag their asses yeah yeah like it’s it’s so good I I really like it when video game developers make a game and the point of the game is I’m tired of the series I don’t want to make it anymore CU it’s almost always good when they do that I think uh a good example Metal Gear Solid 4 think is a perfect example Kima doesn’t want to make him anymore that’s the point of the game he’s trying to kill snake off they convince him not to it’s and and and the the Dark Souls 3 ending where like the fire the secret betrayal where you give the fire keeper her eyes and she turns off the fire at the end and then at the end she’s like can you still hear me like that’s it’s that is perfection yes like soul of everybody talks about how great Gail is and I’m just like I mean like mechanically yeah he’s great but like from a story point I just like all right you know I guess he’s fine he’s fine but everybody’s like no he’s the best ever and I’m like Soul Cinder better yeah soul Cinder is way better I talk about Soul Cinder all the yes yeah go ahead that’s you it’s you yes you don’t need you don’t need any lore knowledge to realize that it’s you you don’t need to be a lore buff to understand you go in there you see him shifting forms and turning into different builds and then Gwyn comes out at the at the end the first Lord of Cinder and you so you get it’s everybody that has ever linked the fire and found it a worthwhile Endeavor including you in the past games in this game anybody that has linked to the fire that’s who that is it’s you it’s beautiful yeah absolutely gorgeous and the soundtrack obviously uh that’s one of the few times where you can do a a call back and I’m like all right I’m not mad at you for that one like the oh man I loved it uh yeah anyway I yeah like my point being like on the lore thing I I was I was sort of like blinded by like what I had expected and the fact that like my expectations weren’t met meant like what did that mean and I basically had to go through like an entire like I did a lore playthrough of Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2 and I was it it just made me approach like how I was um H how I would take in Elden ring lore I was basically like I ain’t saying [ __ ] I’m not thinking about [ __ ] I’m not Conjuring [ __ ] until the DLC comes out because I’m I’m going to come up with ideas and I’m going to be looking in the wrong spot and I’m not going to see stuff that’s right in front of me yeah Wise Wise and so yeah like cuz I really feel that’s what’s happened to me I I feel like that 100% I’m in I’m in that process I’m I’m in the process of trying to detox myself from uh my preconception own ideas yeah and and you know it’s like they’re cool ideas like that’s you know and like you have time to like boil them down and think on them and like look around and like find stuff that like ties it together and so like like to me like the idea that melan’s mother was like the Glide Queen it’s like this is not something that like like it’s just there’s just no way that if you don’t let her burn herself she’s like I’m supposed to have fire but I don’t okay what else what what fire is there that exists that doesn’t anymore the black flame what is it now the black flame is destined death okay what happens if you don’t burn melan up and destined death is freed she becomes the Glide Queen like I I was like okay so there’s just no way that there’s not like a connection there she has too she has too many Glide Queen connections to to not have something but when I saw that like Messer was her brother and obviously America’s messer’s mother I I was like what the hell like you kid there’s no way you’re taking this one from me yeah but the in Bonnie Village the oh mother gesture is it’s it’s on the the the statue right and it it operates the statue of America but it’s also right next to giant snake yeah the the giant snake statue and I was like ah I I it might be a statue might might be a a snake skin yeah that’s true I yeah uh an inanimate snake like object okay you know we we I know I know like talk about L yeah we got to go uh but uh this this is great I I’m happy to see that you’re also a lore guy you know you’re like rigan you’re like reigan you study sorceries and incantations to be complete you’re the PVP guy but you’re also the lore guy and the PVE Guy this is actually great I rarely meet people that like all aspects of the souls games um that guy you’re you’re like I didn’t I didn’t start playing Dark Souls because it had PVP in it you know what I mean like like I was in love with every other aspect of it and it had PVP in it like so yeah like I’m I’m I’m pretty well-rounded you know jack of all trades master of none like I’m not the best PVP guy and I’m not the best lore guy but like I can uh you know I I won’t embarrass you if you invite me to a PVP dinner or a lore dinner okay great uh we should we should have that we’ll P put
