I got a hard clear case for new 3ds xl and it looks protective but I was wondering if it would be protective enough for me to just throw it in a bag because I’m going on a work trip soon and I want to bring it with me so would I have worry about anything? Here’s pictures of the case on my 3ds to give you guys a better idea I guess.

Speaking from my own experience since I just got the same crystal case. Yes, it’s enough for protection, you won’t get a scratch or fingerprint on your 3ds with that case, I put mine in a pouch bag and carry it almost everywhere with me.
For me soft TPU cases are the best offering protection, are a little bit harder to find tho. I like clear ones but will get yellowish with time.
I have a hard zip case for mine too. It fits even with the clear plastic case. The zip case was maybe $15. It adds weight and bulk so when I throw the 3ds in my backpack I just zip it into a ziplock bag to protect from possible spills
