Blame PC for this culture. They started the disc-less trend and now consoles are fading them out

I know I’ll get down voted and berated by physical only purists, but there really hasn’t been big points of physical in over 10 years, hence why the market is so one sided with everyone buying digitally.

Games haven’t been pop in and play for the most part even going back to the ps3/360 era, every game needs to install and has major updates even single player games, and with live service and online games even ones with physical releases like COD or Madden what’s the point of the disc?

It’s just more convenient to download, you don’t have to chase anyone down at Walmart or target, or order off Amazon. Yes certain games get delisted, but for the most part stuff like GTA, Red dead, God of War, Horizon etc are never going to be inaccessible. The only games that get delisted really that have physical copies are sports games and racing games, with the latter being due to heavy licensing fees from the auto manufacturers.

To me, and many others who dont make up the vocal minority, having a plastic box on the shelf isn’t good enough to not make us download from the convenience of home.

I love owning games physically but with how often games go on sale digitally it just makes more sense to buy a lot of games digitally. I miss when physical copies came with manuals or maps of the world, made it feel more special.

    4. It’s not that physical copies aren’t available, it’s just that the stores now expect you to purchase online and have them shipped.

I only pay for physical products gaming or otherwise. Went physical only in 2022. A bonus of that us i dont need to scroll through shitgames that dont deserve a physical copy or even to exist.

    6. For real. I’ve been thinking this the past couple times I go to Walmart. The gaming section would always be the main spot for me but these last couple times I go there and it’s just the same shit that’s been there the last 5 years. It’s a very dead time for PlayStation. Maybe that’ll change next 5 years but I doubt it. GTA 6 is kinda it for me.

Gaming corners were PEAK imo. The metal fenced off area with metal shelves.

    8. Online sales killed this aisle, people get games shipped to their houses now.
