Cappy hasn’t been utilized any of the Mario spin-offs outside of a cameo in Mario Run. The character being mostly a gameplay mechanic is presumably why he hasn’t appeared since.
I hope that the one off characters from Zelda get the spotlight again in the future.
King K Rool and some of the other DKC characters haven’t appeared since Mario Super Sluggers.
