Greetings!

Making games has long been a passion of mine, as I have dreamed about conjuring up new worlds and creating stories of my own. This idea has been in the works for several years – I’ve been gathering inspiration from fairy tales, myths, ancient religions and beliefs. And now, I am happy to present The Mildew Children as the culmination of it.

The Mildew Children is a grim 2D adventure mixed with a visual novel about a village of children who follow savage traditions. A young witch named Kyrphel has to perform a dreadful ritual in order to save the village from the Mistress of Death.

This looks really cool! How long did it take you to make this? Did you have any help?

Love the music! I’m always curious to how a solo dev goes about finding a score for their title?

    3. Always happy to see something new and interesting in the indie space – especially when I get to enjoy it on Xbox! I’m a big fan of games that have a lot of written dialogue and scripts, so a visual novel-esque title is right up my alley.

To that note though, I wanted to ask how you chose your target platforms. In my experience, a decent amount of indie games skip either Xbox or home consoles altogether in favor of PC and Switch. I understand this is because it’s easier to list a game on PC storefronts than it is on home console, and Switch, from what I hear, is a lot more friendly of an environment that facilitates indie sales better than something like Xbox and PS5.

I’m really excited to check out your game, but what went into your decision making when choosing export platforms?

    4. I’m intrigued by the trailer. How long have you been making games? Do you start with a story and build the game around that?
